Electronic Arts Producer Jim Vessella, whose credits include Command & Conquer 3, Kane’s Wrath, and Red Alert 3, has announced on reddit that EA is bringing the C&C franchise back to the PC: a number of remasters are being planned, with one already in the works to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary. In response to one fan’s question, Vessella claims there will be no microtransactions.

Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.

I wish they just donate to openra with the only strings attached that they hire a few people to polish it up and bring in full campaign support.

I have zero confidence that ea won't mess it up otherwise (and even then...)

I really tried as well. There is openRA but it's not the same.

Sadly I see EA F'ing this up but maybe..... 10% chance they don't?

EA will fuck this, that is the one thing that can be guaranteed

Seeing how both of those games sucked. I don't have much faith in these.

Also, Fuck EA.

So they cant do anything new / good so just keep reselling what they already have sold us with more pretty? Pass...

Sometimes you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Which is a good thing because they would be SOL. If done right, these will be good.

What, WHY?

So they killed C&C, then revived it as a mobile game, (which at that point was suicide) then they killed it again. And now they want to make a remaster, to milk old fans? Fuck no. As much as as i'd like to see a remaster, they're not getting my money. Make Generals 2, then we can talk about remastering old games.

It sounds interesting and I am going to keep an eye on it. That said, I never finished the game because I could never keep the civilians from wandering into the field of that power stuff and getting themselves killed. (It was the mission where you had to keep the civilians alive, all of them.)

C&C 3 and RA3, were actually good ones. (the crap one was C&C4)

Many hundreds of hours spent in multi player Cnc3. Lots of cheesy builds, but the frenetic pace couldn't be beat.

Starcraft has it beat on depth of gameplay, but for pure arcade style fun, CnC was awesome.

Yeah I pretty much agree, EA will find a way to screw this up.

RA3 wasn't terrible and at least it works on modern systems and can usually be found for cheap. But yeah it's no RA or RA2.

Oh and if they eliminate LAN play on any efforts then just screw it. Red Alert LAN parties were awesome back in the 90's. Damn I'm old.

Don't fuck it up!

The RTS genre is ripe for a revival, i'll buy any remaster they make! (C&C 4 excluded)

Never liked em once they went 3D. The perspective & field of view were horrendous.
The first truly 3D C&C was Generals, which was almost universally liked, so I don't really know what do you mean by went 3d. Or if you disliked generals as well, then you're in a very small minority.

re-masters just another name name for milking the cow. will this mean the crappy fmvs (actually my fav parts) will be nuked for cg/properly done ones?

release a proper c&c game ea, the one we all want

It will probably maintain the same everything, just increased texture resolution's (since I think it was like 320x240....) and support for modern OS'.

Great another half assed remastering of these classics, I bought the last two attempts and neither of them worked will at the time.

This won't work.

The best one, Generals without a doubt. I hope to god they are remastering this.

Chinese hackers couldn't be more relevant than now in 2018 lol

Generals seems to have aged okay.

When they stopped using sprites after Tiberian Sun & started using 3D models for the units. It killed the series for me, which I think is about the time EA bought out Westwood. The camera got pushed up too close to the battlefield which killed the field of view for the game, felt very claustrophobic.

Everyone knows I'm a mechanical man...but can they just do it up?

Got the "original" soundtrack on google. They (I'm fairly certain) added some voice-overs that weren't present in the original DOS soundtrack (most obvious in "Act on Instinct"), but I still love'em.
Edit: They have the less obnoxious versions too, just have to look for the non-EA ones. Didn't have them back when I got this album. More by Frank...

Am I the only one waiting for a modern version of Dune? That game was badass. I loved the original DOS game and it's what got me into Westwood's games and RTS as a kid.
