CBS has debuted a brand-new Star Trek: Discovery trailer at New York Comic Con, introducing not only the new season, but fan favorite Spock. The legendary Human/Vulcan hybrid will evidently be played by a bearded Ethan Peck, whose credits include voicework for Final Fantasy XIII and Halo.

The trailer was a bit too melodramatic for my taste but my god, it looks noticeably better than the first season which looked absolutely incredible imo. Bring it on.

Wow this looks way better than season 1 trailer....but again it is a trailer.

And SPOCK...has a beard?......Interesting

The ONLY good Spock with a beard...….

Definitely looks good to me. Crew looks like it hit its stride.

Looks like a high-T low-IQ rehash, with special effects and swinging hips replacing philosophical debates and dilemmas.

Still not paying to watch it.

Given that comcast charges me a "rebroadcast fee" that is $8 for the over the air broadcasters, no way in hell am I paying for a streaming service from CBS for one show. Just looked that up, it was $3.75 in 2016 and now $8. Its more than my city's franchise fee tax of about $4.

The only way it's worth it is if
  1. you have amazon prime
  2. you get CBS All access through Amazon (because higher quality video and surround sound)
  3. you subscribe the month the series is ending and binge the entire show then cancel.
Also, if you liked the Good Wife, the Good Fight is excellent, but again, it's not worth 3 months of subscribing for just that show. I guess if you're patient, you could wait till next summer, sign up for a month on Amazon and binge both programs then cancel.

I heard this Star Trek was terrible. Was it really worth making a Season 2? I'd watch Season 1, but I feel that I'd be left with disappointment.

Haberkorn's eyebrow job sets a fairly low bar.
Not quite as bad as JJ's spook reboot...

Looks good, I enjoyed Season 1 a lot after the..."twist" near the middle.

All I saw, again, was flashy shit.......where is the drama? When I saw Jar Jar's reboot of Wrath, I walked out so disappointed and telling my friends that it was shitty to me (note, I enjoyed the first one some). One thing a friend noted, and I do think it exacerbates the issues is that CG takes away from the true drama and action. Since, it was not easy, expensive, and not really necessary back in the day true acting came out. I watched original Wrath since it was on Netflix, and was pleased once again. Don't get me wrong I do like some flashy'ness in a movie but not when it takes the movie away from me. I feel Stories of Old does it best in explanation (one of my favorite channels):

I really enjoyed the first season, can’t wait for this.

The wife and I enjoyed it once we mentally removed 'Star Trek' from the title. It's a pretty good looking and decently to well written sci-fi show. But naming it Star Trek comes with baggage and expectations.

Yea, I think I'll skip this show entirely. I want Star Trek, not copy and paste SciFi.

If they had called this something besides star trek i probably could have overlooked some things.
They did a terrible job with the 'klingons' which did not look, acted nor sound like klingons that people have seen since the past 25-30 years. Every time one of them came on screen it was just like nails on a chalkboard. Even the ships and attire were awful. They did the stupid plot twist in the middle of the season. Would have preferred they spent the whole first season with Lorca and focusing on his tactics and how he was in this grey area of upholding the virtues of the federation vs doing whatever it took to win against the klingons. But instead they did the stupid alternative universe crap and all that felt really unnecessary and could have been done in the second season instead.
I'd argue the Orville is more 'star trek' than this was.
