Capcom has announced that the rumored live-action Mega Man film, which was hinted at over the summer, is officially going into production: “Catfish” directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman will direct and write the script, but the story is still a secret and there is no indication of how the Blue Bomber will be adapted to the silver screen. “Capcom states that it will be aiming to appeal to a 'diverse audience.'”

This new film endeavor is part of Capcom’s plans to “increase the brand value” of the “Mega Man” series by capitalizing on other visual mediums. There’s already a “Mega Man” animated series airing on Cartoon Network known as “Mega Man: Fully Charged,” and “Mega Man 11” released Oct. 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Well maybe they can do a decent game to movie adaption, the series provides more than enough for Mega Man to go Taken/John Wick while searching for Dr. Wily.

Though I am concerned when they say "Capcom states that it will be aiming to appeal to a 'diverse audience.'"

Now I am wondering if they are going to appeal to adults and kids or is it going to go new Ghostbusters and push some in un-needed agenda.

Mega MAN? Despite the games name he always appeared to be a teenager at best.

really? idk about that. if its done with a big enough budget with non-stop action it could be entertaining. but I would prefer a properly done SF movie. assassins fist was pretty f'n good.

I expect the movie to be just like this. 46cd5878938766aa1bb68b73bcb4c724.jpg

yeah this will suck

let me know when they make Japanese made Rockman X movie

I am a mega man fan. I have had the protoman whistle as my text tone since text messages could have custom tones...there is no way this can be a good live action movie.

If it’s R or designed to be silly...maybe. Especially the ladder. I just can’t imagine an honest “action” movie could be even remotely faithful and not terrible.

Wow, with those directors acclaimed credits this will be amazing!

Another shitty MTV movie looks like.....

I will hold judgement until they release the cast list. But based on their statements I am not hopeful.... I could see this working as a futuristic sci-fi John Wick sort of thing but that’s not really all ages, so maybe a Blade Runner sort of thing only brighter but that seems too intellectual so that leaves an Astro Boy sort of deal..... which while not aimed at the original fans it would probably target their kids. Rate it G and you can bet Inwould be taking my daughter to it.

I see this turning into RoboCop
That would be a good thing. I see them turning this into a man who enters a suit and kills evil robots. Like Iron Man but stupid, cause Hollywood can't ever follow the source material.

They will make MegaMan an African-American (BLACK).

Bet you a bajillion dollars that is what will end up happening....

And holy shit, had a idea while I was typing that........It's a woman who wants to be a man and they perform an experiment on her that makes her a MegaMan, this is like the perfect opportunity to make a "trans" person a main hero. Fucking Hell........DIVERSITY.

I seriously hope I am wrong.....God help us all.

they could take a page out of marvels iron man to be partly successful, i think it could work..
just modernize the suit, create a few oddball villians, and have this ultra rich kid take them down..

Do they hand out controllers to movie patrons so you can throw them to recreate the frustration of the Megaman games?

Also the premature alt-SJW outrage is right fucking stupid.

While we can hope, the odds are high that it will indeed be another SJW abortion:

"Capcom states that it will be aiming to appeal to a 'diverse audience.'"

It is stupid at face value, but given Capcom's comments it isn't without merit. That said the movie is destined to be shit no matter what, so the diversity nonsense doesn't even matter.

You will forgive me if I don't get triggered by two words "diverse audience" and immediately start foaming at the mouth and vomiting as much alt-SJW BS as I can.

I don't disagree with you, I'm just saying I can see where people might get the idea in the first place.

The idea of this being live action is moronic. He was mostly considered Mega Boy at best. Maybe 9rs old. Maybe less. Live action won’t work as he will be to large and old and will look stupid in the suit. I hope they really go sideways and drop the overall suit style and go ironman on this if they have any hope.

It wont be true to the game without a 20 minute scene featuring disappearing blocks
