If i'm going to waste compute cycles, I might as well put them to work. But I don't have a problem putting to compete either. That's just a win win. I'm for changing it to whatever the team needs.

Hey, as long as you are crunching something, you are doing good work for science. If you are doing that crunching on one of the projects in the Formula BOINC list, you are helping the [H]orde. If you also participate in the Sprints and various Challenges, we would appreciate that very much. However, whether you participate in those things is totally up to you. If you want to just crunch one project all the time, that is fine, too. Whatever you want to do is totally cool. No pressure here at all. You could have chosen any team, but you chose us. We thank you for any and all contributions!

WCG is a great project if you want to contribute to important medical research. Same with Rosetta. TN-Grid, too, as well as GPU Grid (if you want to crunch on a GPU). There are others, as well. Take a look at the Formula BOINC (FB) project list and then visit the sites of those projects and crunch on those you deem worthy of your electricity budget. Personally, I crunch on everything because I chase project badges, Free DC Mega Milestones, and WU Prop project hours (you'll learn what stuff all of that means soon enough).

Anyway, thanks again for joining the [H]orde! Welcome aboard!

Maybe because I still don't know a thing about this but I left them all checked.

You are doing great so far. There is one other selection I would recommend because later you may want to chase badges and it is one of the hardest to achieve at WCG. That is to go into your settings and accept BETA work as well. At WCG you go to: My contributions > Beta Testing (tab on the left) > Check the boxes for each profile you have listed. > click save.

Then I would recommend you add two other non-WCG projects to your BOINC client as they are non-cpu intensive and will run alongside your other work without taking away from them. Add WUProp and Goofyxgrid NCI.

For TN-Grid, my Threadripper 1950X tasks are taking 2 hours 40 minutes each. My RAM is 3200mhz cas 14. Running quad channel with default CPU clocks.

16 tasks running at once. Plus a few Milkyway GPU tasks.

We are hot in a Sprint right now on TN-Grid. We are doing OK but solidly in 2nd place. Please join in and help out. The secret invite code the project asks for is science@tn

The project is slow on creating work units, so once you add the project you'll want to run this Windows batch script file to ensure you get units to crunch through. Save it in a file name something like TNGridPolling.bat
Then, right click the file and choose run.

Code:
for /l %%x in (1, 1, 10000) do (echo %%x
"c:\Program Files\Boinc\boinccmd.exe" --project http://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/ update
ping 127.0.0.1 -n 140 > nul)

If in linux, run this watch command:
watch -n 140 boinccmd --project http://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/ update

The competition already knows the above tactics, so definitely use them to get work for yourself. Thanks for joining in, and reply if you need help.

Friday is wrapping up and we are in 1st. Our competition isn't putting forth many points, and my assumption is that they are "bunkering" their results and are going to release them on the last day. We need to stay strong, since they could drop those points on themselves and EVGA; dropping us all the way to 3rd. Their heaviest hitters, hardest crunchers, toughest players, are completely absent from this race so far and haven't contributed any points, so their is the real possibility they could pull off a huge upset and go home with the gold and put us in our place at 3rd.

Keep your rigs crunching and true on the mark of [H].

yeah this is my worry as well. Basic playbook . bunker some other project leading up to sprint. Drop those results in early part of sprint making it look like team is working on something else while secretly bunkering sprint. Hope competition splits points due to "large lead" drop late bunker in sprint and laugh all the way to the bank.

travanx you should help us with the current Formula-BOINC Sprint going on. The project is https://boinc.progger.info/odlk/ but bear in mine that the current status of the project servers are over loaded due to this Sprint. So creating an account, joining the team and getting tasks might take a little longer than usual.

I pretty much only have GPU's available. This one is CPU only right?

A lot of my tasks got verified throughout the day Friday, and I'm now up to 74,000 for the sprint. Big jump from being at 8k in the morning. I estimate a total contribution of 200,000 points from my PCs for this sprint.

Congratulations on first place in the last challenge. Was a rough one trying to get, then upload the damn tasks. Very frustrating to put it mildly.
Where is XtremeSystems? Seems like they are on vacation or something.

Thanks !; and yes, we miss XS too ... looks like they changed focus (possible) or just gave up (not sure). Next year the fight will be even much closer ...

You guys have this one in the bag. Congrats!

I think 7AA7 may upset SUSA this round........if we could just get an update to Sebastian/FB....

I have an idea.... if we happen to be near our computers, we can all disable networking a few minutes before the top of each hour, then re-enable a few minutes later? That might help get a stats update through?

It might be better to cycle in groups to get a low but continuous flow to the backend. Kind of supportive bunkering. Of course towards the end all pipes can stay open. From start to let say 48h to 60h it might help the weaker projects.

I've had ANOTHER idea....I'm so full of them this morning! Or....full of something. Anyway, I digress...

It may all just work out anyway, surely by now the big players have all the tasks they need to get to the finish line, so the massive (expected) decrease in downloads will surely help out the 'little server that could'?

Seems like Free DC got partial update for users on ODLK today, but nothing for teams . I tallied up what it shows in teams (directly for users) and if we judge by that then i would agree TaaT may well have upset SUSA
