Title is pretty much everything. I have two systems running 10G right now but now I want to add my desktop and probably another server. I have had a taste of 10G and now 1G just wont do.

How quiet? a lot quieter than an R710. My server rack is in my walk in closet attached to my bedroom. I've been working on removing the noisy stuff.

How cheap? Sub $300.

If you could swing and extra $50 you can get a Mikrotik CRS317-1G-16S+RM for about $350 shipped. 16x SFP+ ports and the fans only run when it heats up.

I was just looking at:
CRS328-4C-20S-4S+RM
CRS328-24P-4S+RM - was $360 on amazon but sold out presently and has POE which is a nice perk. I've been meaning to get some more ubiquiti stuff setup and even some cameras.

4 SFP+ and can fit most of my network all on that switch. Being all fiber means I have to have something else for the RJ45 stuff. They have a 2 port at $150 that I'm tempted to go with

the trendnet TEG-30284 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EOPSRP6/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 comes in under $300 but is trendnet...

It looks like quite a few brocades get a lot of love over on STH but haven't looked very far into them yet.

I ended up buying a Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM that I found for $100 but a few days later won an auction i forgot about. A NETGEAR ProSafe GSM7328S for $50. the mikrotik only has the 2 SFP+ ports. I ordered some more transceivers and the switch is working great. I'm leaning more towards just running fiber between the two switches and having one switch in the basement and a second out in the garage or in my office depending on where I want to set some more stuff up.

I have a Cisco 4948 10g which has 2 10g ports but I'm going to soon get a Unifi US-16-xg all 16 ports are 10g. Can use sfp+ and it has 4 dedicated 10gig ethernet ports.

500 dollars. Cheap price for this capability.
