Affordable Oversized Table/Desk Tops?

Any advice for those without an Ikea nearby for DIY? I'm in Santa Maria, CA.

Well, IKEA is far from the only/best discount furniture place, but it happens to have been the one I wound up with. I can't speak to your area.

That said, if you do like the IKEA option here, they do ship parts. Depending on how far you are from their closest distribution center, it's not terribly expensive either. If you order any large item, there is a fixed shipping fee per order, no matter how much stuff you order. It starts at $39, but I'd imagine since you are 2.5 hours away from the closest store in Burbank, it might be a little higher, but I have no idea.

Might be worth at least seeing what it would cost.

Shipping fee here is $99. It does seem to be fixed though which is something I never knew. I'm moving into a new house so there may be some additional items to make it worthwhile.

I used to have a door slab as a desk (36" x 80") and just stick 2 filing cabinets underneath as support. Economical and useful for LAN parties back in the day.
