Yesterday, Mozilla launched a virtual reality and mixed reality browser called "Firefox Reality". The new browser is based on the mainstream, 2D version of Firefox, and comes with all the privacy, security and performance updates new builds of Firefox have. However, Mozilla re-designed the interface from the ground up, creating a virtual VR space for dragging windows around and adding methods for dynamically switching between 2D and 3D content. According to Mozilla's blog post, Firefox Reality is only available on the Occulus Go, Android Daydream devices, and Vive Wave devices. However, Mozilla says this is only the beginning for Firefox Reality, so maybe we could see it on more VR devices in the future.

Check out launch trailer here.

We are in this for the long haul. This is version 1.0 of Firefox Reality and version 1.1 is right around the corner. We have an always-growing list of ideas and features that we are working to add to make this the best browser for mixed reality. We will also be listening and react quickly when we need to provide bug fixes and other minor updates. If you notice a few things are missing (“Hey! Where are the bookmarks”), just know that we will be adding features at a steady pace. In the coming months, we will be adding support for bookmarks, 360 videos, accounts, and more. We intend to quickly prove our commitment to this product and our users.

I dunno, not personally really interested in browsing the web in VR. For that a plain ol monitor will suffice.

reading in VR is a terrible experience for me. It is for slicing boxes with lightsabers, not checking google news.

Doesn't look that fun right now but maybe in the future. You have to start somewhere and this is just 1.0.

I've never done VR, but what's the point of this? It doesn't seem to do anything useful at all
