You know it’s a great day when you can get a solid entry-level graphics card and three free games for under $200. That day is today. Newegg has an 8GB MSI Radeon RX 580 for $190 after a $30 mail-in rebate, and this card is eligible for AMD’s Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey free game bundle.

That’s a great deal, and while it would be nicer without the hassle of a mail-in rebate, it’s still worth the paper work. The RX 580 is a fantastic option for 1080p gaming. You can expect a solid 60 frames per second in many AAA games with the settings cranked. If 1440p is more your style, you should get some pretty good performance there too, and VR is also possible. If you want 4K, however, that’ll require something higher up the product line.

As for the games, you get the aforementioned Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, as well as Star Control: Origins (which rolls out on Thursday), and Strange Brigade. That’s not bad value at all, and it’s definitely enough to warm up that new GPU.

Not bad. Assuming there are no oddball restrictions that AC Odyssey code should be easy to flip for $40.

The code requires that the person who redeems it has either a Vega, 580, or 570 installed while redeeming.

While that's lame (and understandable since Nvidia pulls the same thing) it's still a good deal for anyone that wants the game. Redeem game and sell card. Or hell use the card. It's a solid 1080p GPU.

Yeah. For this price, its hard to beat a 580.

I spent 250 AFTER REBATE on the same card with zero free games about a month and a half ago. My old card died at a really unfortunate time... That said the card runs well in my system. I am playing last gen games (Fallout 4 for example) at 1440p with everything maxed and running in game between 40 and 100 fps depending on location, about 55 average outside. I turned the power target to max and set a custom fan profile in MSI Afterburner. This card's cooler is loud btw.

Has anybody actually looked at the reviews of this specific card?

I looked through a few and most people say it runs loud and hot.. and quite a few people had issues with it dying after a short period of time.

heat isn't an issue, they think its hot but 73c is fine. bunch of the failures look like miners or poor PSUs...

Its a single fan blower card. Not super surprised that it would run hot and loud without tweaking.

I saw one that mentioned that they couldn't get any program to increase/control the fan speed of the card.

Who knows.

Yea, looking through the reviews that seems a bit alarming. I was going to say many reviewers on newegg don't know what they're talking about but it seems to be the same story with many on there. Looks like MSI may have cut a few corners to get a cheap product out.

The single blower fan seems to be the chief complaint on other hardware sites.

yeah single blower fan on a 3/4 length card doesn't surprise me it has issues trying to mine on it, lol.

Like I was saying, adjusting the fan curve with MSI Afterburner makes a world of difference with this card. It is quiet when not gaming, and decent while gaming. With a headset, you wont hear it.

That's what I thought. I think a dual fan GB card was similarly priced at Amazon not to long ago.

Seeing some reviews that say the AMD gift doesn't work lol. I was mildly tempted by SC:Origins, assuming you're not taking a hard-stance about the whole legal spat :p
