Its a dell optiplex 3010 and it will not recognize either of my xbox one controllers when plugged in thru usb.
I have used multiple usb cables on all of the towers usb ports and nothing shows up. I go into device manager it doesn't show a controller anywhere.
I looked around online and nothing i found seemed to fix the problem. I plugged the controllers into the wifes laptop and it did the same thing will not connect at all. I am lost here and have no clue what I need to do to get this to work.

Just trying to play fallout on the pc with the xbox controller, if anyone could help i'd greatly appreciate it

Are the controllers powering on when you hit the middle button?

Did you put batteries in them?

I think it needs them regardless no?

Toggle USB compatibility mode ON/OFF in BIOS?

Try running Windows update with it plugged in to see if it adds some drivers?

I've done it with and without batteries, it rumbles when plugged in and the guide button in the center continues to flash like its waiting to connect to something but it never does. Running windows 10, I'm honestly lost here.

is your windows and usb drivers up to date? tried all ports?

There is a special Microsoft app / software you have to find and install to get it working. And what sucks is that it's not even made clear to you that you need to do this.

I have a new Xbox One Controller and Windows 10 USB adapter. Love the combo.

Ugh, this is so stupid. I miss windows 7 just plugging a 360 controller in and it working just fine

plug in a 360 controller and it just works on 10, still. what version of 10 are you running, it needs to be at least anniversary ed to be pnp, iirc.

Yeah, that is why I ditched the Xbox One controllers for 360 controllers (you can still buy them as-of last year).

Not only do they require these stupid drivers, but you also have some compatibility issues playing older games that were designed for the 360.

Also, if you use wired controllers, the lack of safety release really sucks. The Micro USB plug on the One's controller end tends to get bent pretty often, and lose connection, breaking the entire controller.

The very nice new cross directional controls are also worthless in emulation because last time I checked, the One's new API makes it clunky-as-hell for emulators that are just looking for a traditional controller.

I honestly don’t remember what version of windows 10 I’m running. I’ll have to check it tonight when I get home.

If you are still having trouble you might try getting the dell command update app v2.4 and checking for component updates for your dell, this has helped me with tons of these at work. (Worst case you might get some spectre patches)

the anniversary edition was the aug 2016 patch or some shit, if you haven't installed any of the creator patches probably time to do so..
