Just started having this message installation failed disk access problem. Disabled AV, Malware bytes, and firewall. Deleted game still no go. Reinstalled GOG galaxy still no go. Not all games failed. I am account admin.. WTF is going on? Anyone else have this issue? Any fix out there. This is BS.....

where are you trying to install to? if its c: try creating a new "games" folder and install there.

two different drives a ssd 2tb hybrid and a 1tb sandisk ssd do the same thing.. and already tried different folders....

try installing something else, non-gog, to see if its that or windows.

Well was able to install other things even some gog games, but some couldn't even be installed manually. I do think think this is a GOG galaxy issue. I'm thinking of updating the machine to 10 with a scratch install. Cleaning the drives with diskpart so no possibility of any left over crap. I upgraded a while back then went back to win 8.1. Should have digital license. Windows 10 has gotten a LOT better now...

if you've got nothing to loose but a couple hours reinstalling, might as well. that will fix it.

never seen ram cause access errors. could be a bad cable though.
op, what did you change before this started happening?

The last time I had installation issues a HDD was on the verge of dying or a SATA cable went bad. If you can view the smart, a SATA cable going bad or is loose IIRC is number 199 UIta ATA CRC Error Count.

He already told me he thoroughly tested his drives out with no errors.

Well got it work basically uninstalled any extra junk. used Samsung magician to force trim, uninstalled galaxy reinstalled, reimported gog folder and now the games all installed. Some software glitch must have caused error. Now I have one other idea while I got your attention, would rapid mode on the second drive an 850 1TB evo help speed. This drive is in a cd caddy and thus is hooked to a Sata 2 port and peaks at about 260 meg sequential. First drive is a 500 850 evo and is on a sata 3 port. Opinions? By the thanks for help
