You Hate the Planet if You Buy an iPhone XS

There is literal truth to this. Apple knowingly sold phones suffering from structural weakness for at least 3 generations.

Also they try to shut down independent repair shops by abusing trademark law.

So I have no problem believing that the 6S will need replacement by next year, especially if you wear it in the back pocket. And there is nobody who is going to fix it for a reasonable price.

My iPhone4 is how old again...6 years old by now ? dunno, stopped counting.

When it fails I MAYBE get a new one..maybe.

A lot of people hate the planet because they make bad decisions or if you are in 3rd world country drinking monster energy drinks for Call of Duty points.

My 6S will need to be replaced next year. this release has me hopeful that next year we will see another inclusion of a much more affordable model.

Still waiting for more details though.
I have a 6+ that is getting old. But Im waiting for 5g and usb-c. Then xs to the max :)

If an old phone works fine, there really isn't much reason to replace it, IMO. With an Android you can overclock the CPU/GPU and get very good performance. If you don't mind the increased weight, you can get a battery case and tremendously improve the battery life.

Per the Bill Gates equation you hate the planet if you continue to exhale. Climate change is real but its not CO2 as termites out produce humans. Not to mention the earth produces billions of tons naturally. There are lakes with so much compressed CO2 that when its released ti wipes out whole villages. Climate change is designed to bring about the most draconian system far beyond what was seen under the papal system of the dark ages.

well recycling are a double edged sword, at least here in Denmark where we have seen recycling campaigns and so you had to sort your garbage, only for the garbage man to put the 2 different things in the same truck and do what he always did with it ( burn it )
Where my friend just moved he have 3 different garbage bins, and the price to get his garbage taken away are 2 X compared to where he came from ( he moved from the #2 largest town with 2 garbage bins and to a rural house,,,,, and do remember Denmark are pretty small so its not like the garbage man have to drive for hours to get to his house )
I think most places electronics recycling just mean out of sight / out of country.

PS. The deep sea contains vast amounts of frozen / solid methane, release that and people will be scrambling for higher ground, and not give a damn about cow farts.

not accessing Motherboard also reduces work load on their servers.

please do your part in making a cleaner better Earth

You know what would help extend the life of phones? If we could replace the battery in them ourselves. Like really.

I literally chose my v20 because it's the best phone with a removable battery. That's my #1 criteria. For many reasons.

That's one of the reasons my whole family is using Note 4's.
Removable battery, micro sd slot, decent performance, good camera, and good used ones can be found for less than $200.

I'd like to buy it. I've used my 6+ upto this point and now that I've recently dropped the thing more than a few times the screen just isn't right.

Right?

My 7 has been spotless without a scratch right up until this month when I have dropped it 12 times accidently without the case so I can justify the upgrade to my wife.

At least for me, about 3-4 years ago, just about any high-end smartphone was 'good enough' and I stopped worrying about getting the next greatest feature, which usually turned out to be not that great considering the price of the new phone. I also used to want the next Android OS update thinking I got cheated if the company skipped on it. Now, I'm on the opposite end where on my galaxy I can't choose NOT to update it because usually it runs just a little worse or has some annoying quirk that didn't exist before. Couple that with sealed batteries and these companies do not make it easy for you to keep your phone long-term. I know companies need to make money but I'm becoming more disenfranchised with our throwaway society.

The problem is when you realize that everybody has got to make money, and you acknowledge that no problem...

...and the same people will suck you dry without thinking twice.

You think everybody has to make money. And they think they have to make money. Screw you.

Corporations and employers in general swear by that motto.

still using an old i Phone 5 s i paid 99 bucks for from virgin mobile..have zero plans to get a new phone ..let alone anything from apple ..i hate the forced updates that slow it down ..but i do not need a new i phone thats huge just to answer calls ..for the rest .. i have PC

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

If it’s anything like my 6S it’s probably going to die soon. I had my battery replaced in Jan, my screen has a orange/yellow spot that is growing quite large, new battery is at 73%, Touch ID doesn’t work halve the time.

I would use my iPhone as long as it still works. But one day, Apple decided to drop the iOS support on it, and the apps that I used (example: Whatsapp) stopped working if I don't update to the latest iOS. That's how Apple makes me ditch the iPhone.

what does one do when they dislike apple more than the planet but dislikes this article even more so than apple?

If you dislike forces upgrades, then Android and no updates is for you :)

I do like the idea of giving Apple your old Iphones for $100.
But i think Apple would just remodel them and sell them as the New "Retro" IPhones for those who want a taste of the past. Only $1000 for the nostalgia phone! :angelic:

Depends on whether his buttons or other things are starting to go. Regardless, he'd have to replace it in 2020, because support will end with IOS 13

I may upgrade, but honestly, my 6s+ works quite well. I also have 6 and it's sluggish. I took to apple to check the batter and possibly replace it, but it's actually at 93% capacity after 3.5 years. OTOH, that 6s+ is down to 89. Whether I keep it or sell it, I'm replacing that battery.

I bought the carrier unspecified version. Honestly I bought those phones because I just wanted to get the phones and not deal with entering the carrier and phone number and such.

I noticed that its the same phone for Verizon, ATT and whatever. How long has Apple been selling iPhones that are compatible with any carrier? I'm on Verizon, so I'll activate it on Verizon. If I choose to switch to ATT, can I take the SIM out and reactivate it?

I bought the phones without a carrier and paid outright. No financing.

Yet, you want t o buy another apple product. They create fragile devices that are much more prone to failure than any other competing products. At 2-3x the price.
  1. Long history of obvious engineering failures
  2. history of not admitting to design flaws
  3. they make you pay to "fix" problems that are clearly caused by their faulty design.
  4. And fix is in quotations for a reason, because it is not a fix in some cases, but some hackjob.
  5. Blaming the user for their devices failures
  6. Do everything in their power to keep you from repairing your own device
And apple customers act as if this is the way it is supposed to be. Well no, it's not the way it is supposed to be. And shame on you for continually supporting such a company.

Yes, which one did you get? Apple has been pretty good throughout history about supporting as many bands as possible, I don't know if they ever made a phone that only worked on GSM or CDMA but there are instances where they are missing certain bands. I just took my 6S to TMO and had full working capability.

Apologies. I had two browser windows open. I didn't realize I posted this in the irrational Apple hate thread. However I bought 2 Xs Max 256.

don't feed the trolls!
Yes, because someone pointing out your error must be a troll. There is no way you made a mistake. Why can't you just shrug it off and admit it's really not a need but a want? Perhaps I'm wrong and it is really an emotional necessity for you? Would your entire world unravel if you couldn't own a new iphone?

I dunno, seems like someone is unraveling. I wonder who.
