So I just recently started playing Quake Champions online and realized a better mouse and keyboard would make things more fun. Have these Azza devices that came with CyberpowerPC purchase 4 years ago:

https://www.amazon.com/Azza-FBA_KBA...&qid=1536557312&sr=8-4&keywords=azza+keyboard

https://www.amazon.com/Azza-Gaming-...TF8&qid=1536557420&sr=8-3&keywords=azza+mouse

Now if you have not fallen out of your chair laughing at how lame those devices above are...perhaps you would give an opinion on these as replacements:

Intermediate skill level, not a pro and not super serious about gaming. I have heard mechanical keyboards are better all around, and that was the cheapest one available.

Logitech G502.

For the keyboard I don't know, unless your current one is faulty it doesn't sound like you need an upgrade. For years, I have replaced my keyboard with the left half of an Xbox controller for online FPS games.

Don't get a Logitech G502 too narrow I have 3 of them which I'll only use for MMOS if a good one comes out.
Get a Razer Elite I own 4 of them and 1 Razer Chroma. If you are really serious about mouse speed get a Logitech Pro it's kinda on the small side though but it's a fast mouse.
For Keyboards get anything Corsair mechanical K70 K95 you can get older model ones off ebay. Even though I'm typing this on a Logitech Orion ;) It's not the best for fast gaming just like it for typing minus the wrist rest.

As shown by the two posts above me, you are entering a world of extreme opinion. This is like saying what is the best handgun. You need to try the mouse out in stores where possible to see what best fits your hand and lifestyle. I personally use the Razor Deathadder and a keyboard with laptop keys. Can't stand mechanical.

I have tried all different types of keyboards over the years and have found that none out there give an objectively better experience than any other. I always want to try a Fragchuck, as the Xbox controller is a little unwieldy with just one hand.

he said he wants to step up his game in quake champions, and you guys recommend him to buy an overpriced 120g mouse - ROFL :D

Questions:
1. Anyone here familiar with the Redragon brand? I get the impression they are a good bang for the buck company, some folks in amazon reviews said their keyboards were as good as Corsairs and Razers for way less, agree?
2. What do people use macro keys for? Is it the case that using these for more than a single command would get you banned for cheating in online shooters?
3. Other than seeing in the dark, are there any practical reasons to get LED or RGB keyboards?
4. For a mix of intermediate gaming and light office work (typing), what is the pricing sweet spot? Say, from $50-$100? Subjective question I know so just seeking popular opinion here.

I've used some macros before but honestly... I'm not sure I see the need for very specific keypresses. There are two types - software (like AutoHotKey, or from the manufacturer) or hardware. Software can be detected. Hardware cannot (and therefore would work if you plug it into another computer, etc.).

Aesthetics don't necessarily need to have function.

Can't really answer that. I use a Pok3r with MX Silent Reds, and a Logitech G Pro, both at the office and at home. I would say you shouldn't overspend.

I checked out the rocketjumpninja guy and then ordered the Logitech g403 mouse ($42, #4 on his top 40 list). And the Logitech g810 mechanical keyboard ($110). The thinking is that having one set of software to manage devices might simplify things. Anyway, I will report back on the quality of these devices in case folks are in a similar buying situation. The ninja guy was helpful because otherwise I might have gotten the Logitech g502, since this mouse had higher reviews on amazon. But he mentioned that this mouse is probably not as good for twitch fps games due to its weight.

Good luck!

You'll need to run software (Logitech Gaming Center) I think to take advantage of some (most?) features.

I posted this on logitech forums but there were no replies. Are there any good keyboard configs for fps games? The old Azza keyboard had wasd highlighted in red, something like that.

pretty much any full rgb keyboard can have custom zones and can highlight wasd. look in the control software.

It's worth hitting up a Best Buy (or Microcenter if you have one) to see what feels good to you. Things like weight, mouse shape, keyboard noise/layout, etc. are good or bad for different people. Actually putting your hands on some items is the best way to figure out what will work best for you. Best Buy tends to carry a pretty decent selection as far as mainstream stores go. Microcenters tend to have nearly everything under the sun, but there aren't many of them.
