Creative brings '3D' sound to headphones after US$100m R&D

Hell, we have Dolby Atmos on W10 and Razer Surround for free on 10/7 atm, yet most users don't use either.

I used Razer Surround for a while but it has no on/off mode so I can switch between drivers. Only way to stop it is to uninstall it, so I did.

It's software emulating hardware, so you can disable it in the Sounds Outputs settings, and it has a few switches in the software itself, last I used it.

Summer is over and no news!!!

There was this a few days ago: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...eadphone-holography-technology-300707403.html

Also this awhile back: www.businesstimes.com.sg/companies-markets/creative-technology-in-the-black-in-q4-on-gains-from-lawsuit-award-against-huawei
"SXFI was announced in the third quarter of FY2018 and has received overwhelming reception. We expect to commence volume shipment of the new SXFI products from the next quarter (Q2 FY2019)."
But yeah, no software yet :(. I hope we get the demo before actual products start shipping, at the very least.

This is about Creative Technology' s Super X-Fi and demo.

There are similarities with the following and they have existed for years:

1) 3D Audio Spatialization by Oculus' SDK guide:
https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/audiosdk/latest/concepts/audio-intro-spatialization/#audio-intro-spatialization

Oculus also have a HRTF patent:
https://patents.google.com/patent/US9648438

2) Personalized HRTF from Microsoft' s Patent:
https://patents.google.com/patent/US20150312694

In 2016, Microsoft demonstrated how to capture personal HRTF using Hololens:
https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/02/microsoft-exclusive-hololens-spatial-sound/

3) Determination of individual HRTFs:
https://patents.google.com/patent/US20150010160

4) Personal HRTF by 3D Sound Labs and they have papers, SDK, plugins, a 3D audio heaphone and more:
http://pro.3dsoundlabs.com/category/personal-hrtfs/

Many more as HRTF research and inserting microphones to ears techniques have been around for decades.

This post only points to similarities, provides links to more information and does not infer or conclude.

Currently, I have no long or short position in Creative Technology Ltd shares.

For your necessary information and action.

Thank you for reading.

I don't see products like this one from Creative in that list.

It's one thing to research and patent, it's another thing to produce something of utility that end users can actually purchase.

That's what Creative has done.

The $219 dongle drains power from the phone which means a need to buy another wireless charger for frequent usage.

Since you're not talking about the product in the thread, would you mind linking what you are talking about?
