Uber Adds Crash Detection and Security Features

Uber added a new safety feature called "Ride Check" to their app. Using GPS and other phone sensors, the Uber app scans for conditions that indicate a possible crash. When the feature is initiated, both the rider and the passenger get a prompt asking if they're OK, as well as an offer for 911 assistance. Uber says users could get a notification for a "long, unexpected stop," meaning the feature might help in more than just crashes. In addition to Ride Check, Uber also added other security-focused features, like address anonymization and two factor authentication. All this comes in the wake Uber's own self driving accident, and the company claims they're on track for a 2019 IPO.

It why they making bank and the driver gets picked hard. IDK why people still drive for Uber. Lyft seems like a better company to work for as a drivet but still not great.

Sounds like Uber is admitting that their app monitors many of your Personalized Tracking Device's sensors. Sensors like a camera and microphone would be very useful to pickup the wild gyrations and noises of a collision. And sending both driver and passenger(s) an ad based on words heard during the ride. Hears driver and passenger discussing lunch. Ad shows up for Carl's Jr that is a quarter mile down the road. How long before another story about an App continuing to monitor PTD sensors after being closed?
