Hello all

I am looking at a single card replacement for my 2x 780GTX Sli to power my brand new x34p Ultrawide.

I can get a Palit 1080 GTX for about 215 EUROS. Which seems like a good deal, however the monitor I have is a BEAST and I had thought about getting a 1080ti for it. I wont be overclocking it.

I am on a budget, so its really got to be worth it to get the TI as the price jump is double.

2080RTX series is out, too expensive.

What would you do?

It would be nice to know what games you play and what the rest of your system is.

have a gtx1080 and the same monitor. I run pretty much everything smoothly, but for hitting the 90+frames i need to bump more things than I'd like to medium (always keep textures maxed no matter what though).

But like the guy said above, it really depends what games you're playing, for example I can max out rainbow six siege which is the game I'm mostly playing right now. But other games aren't so forgiving.
If you must have 60-100fps at all times in everything I'd got with the ti, but honestly, the 1080 is a really nice sweet spot in terms of performance/price @ 3440x1440 and gsync works wonders for drops you'd otherwise notice.

I'd get the Ti if you plan on playing newer games, as games generally get more demanding on hardware every year.

I have a 1080ti and a 34" Dell ultrawide and plays GTA5, BF1, and other games at decent frame rates with high or max settings.

Pretty much everything except for sports and MOBAs. I have a large library of 250+ games both old/new games and I alternate except for War thunder. FPS, RPGs Action games, and occasional strategy

Right now its SW: battlefront2, the very first Assassins Creed, Warhammer, Bioshock Infinite, Dragon Age 2, FC4, 2k WWE 2017 and as always War Thunder. But I do have my eye on things like Far Cry 5, Battlefield V and Cyberpunk 2077.

Why did you ignore the rest of his comment asking for the rest of your specs?

Because it was late, I was tired, and missed it. Sorry.

Currently running a:
MSI Z87-G65-Gaming
Intel i7 4770K
16GB of DDR3
ACER x34P (being delivered tomorrow to replace 3x DELL U2414H)
2x EVGA Reference 780 GTX (being replaced)

and yes I know the MOBO/CPU/RAM are old and it might bottleneck a little. Its good enough for now. I'll replace it eventually. I really wanted to replace the monitors and need a GPU to power it.

UPDATE:

I just realized though that used 1080ti (I dont care if they are used as long as they work) are SO much cheaper in the USA than even with the shipping (which is optional as I could just wait a few months until I'm back in the USA) its still half the price than in Europe.
I'll get the TI and not be bothered.

The final question then is what 1080ti to get. Open to Suggestions. Just want something fast, cheap and reasonably quiet (I dislike fan noise). I wont be OC and I dont care about gimmicks.

Asus Strix gets alot of praise but it is one of the more expensive cards and I am not sure its really worth it. My EVGA were decent and there is a 1080ti SC2 for $485 or one of the MSI GAMING X 1080 ti

My buddy's got the MSI Gaming X 1080 Ti and has zero complaints. ;)

Honestly, I really like the MSI Gaming heatsink/fan setup....

I will probably go with them for my next card. (bearing in mind, my asus strix has been GREAT)

I have the same 1080 TI and it's been great. I really like the cooler that MSI uses as its sufficient enough without being heavy and making the card sag. I've had the Gaming X for several models and always had a very good experience.

I have the 1080 / X34 combo and love it. If you can stretch your budget then move up to the TI but I am super happy with my 1080. I have no issues running most games on high/ultra settings. FC5, Siege, NMS, and others run great.

I have the Acer Predator X34 and a 1080 Ti. The combination feels pretty perfect and in your situation I'd probably bump up to the Ti if possible.
