Canadian star Ryan Gosling stirred up controversy this week when he addressed the lack of US patriotism in his new film “First Man,” which chronicles NASA’s journey to the moon. Gosling, who plays Neil Armstrong, defended the decision for not showing the US flag during the historical landing on the lunar surface, telling reporters he didn’t think the legendary astronaut “viewed himself as an American hero.”

“I think this was widely regarded in the end as a human achievement [and] that's how we chose to view it,” he told reporters. "I also think Neil was extremely humble, as were many of these astronauts, and time and time again he deferred the focus from himself to the 400,000 people who made the mission possible.”

The world hates us yet wants to co-opt our achievements (and take our money). The USA has much more reason to hate countries who take advantage of us than vice versa. It all comes down to jealousy and envy.

I wonder if they left it off the Saturn V rocket as well. What about the astronauts suits? Did they remove the American flag there too?

I heard they removed the flag so the movie would have good sales in the international market.
How America advanced mankind.
