Crate Entertainment live-streamed around 80 minutes of game play from the upcoming Shattered Realm expansion for the terrific ARPG, Grim Dawn. They recently announced the 9th Mastery or "class tree" for the game called the Oathkeeper which will allow for new build combinations.

Whether they hail from the Temple of Menhir, or offer their souls to the Witch Gods, all Oathkeepers have two things in common: unflinching loyalty and zealous fury. Oathkeepers are the guardians of sacred tombs, keepers of the faithful and ardent enforcers of celestial will. They do not merely hide behind a shield or their divine powers; to Oathkeepers, these are weapons upon which they shall spill the blood of the unworthy and exact their righteous wrath.

In my opinion, the game is alright, it's one of the better ARPGs out there and definitely better than Path of Exile. But the skills are not balanced enough (in the original game at least). Diablo 3 is still the king.

May try to pick this game up again. Last I played of it, it mirrored Titan Quest too much.

Grim Dawn has the most depth of any current ARPG, almost too much. Love this game

I hope the level of difficulty on this video is set to easy mode for the sole purpose of demonstration. If not, then I'll pass. The AI here is simply pathetic.

Looks interesting..I think I'll give it a try after the current D3 season ends. I wanted to Love PoE and there was a time I did. However I just don't find myself enjoying it all that much. I think my biggest issue with PoE is a lack of clarity when it comes to progression. It feels like it is trying so hard to be overly complex that it is just complex for the sake of complexity instead of being enjoyable. On the other hand while D3 remains my preferred ARPG, blizzard has really dropped the ball in many many ways. It is overly simple in too many respects, which is why I basically quit playing between S8 and only recently started again in S14 (I honest to god can't see how anyone can stand non seasonal as there just ceases being a point very quickly). I wasn't impressed with the necro expansion, honestly it felt overpriced for what little content it offered. I also have no desire to play necro and as such didn't even buy it. There needs to be a middle ground between the straight forward simplicity of D3 and the "holy fucking spreadsheet batman" of PoE. I should mention that when a decade+ Eve Online player is put off by how overly complicated something is, that is saying something.

Yet it's more played than any other ARPG except for maybe Path of Exile which is a free game.
Source? It sold a bunch of copies, that's not the same as people still playing it 4 years later.

That's pretty much exactly what the Shattered Realm portion of the expansion is all about....

oh really? that would a huge draw.

oh nvm

lykre :Is it randomly generated? Is that the engine limitation that you guys bypassed?
So, it i semi-random. And what I mean by this is that each of the levels is hand crafted. But the order of the levels that you'll run into them and what spawns on those levels is fully randomised. And right now, in the current test phase, we something like 12 floors made and we're going to add many, many more as we proceed in development.

so, not a procedurally generated map .. oh well, maybe the sequel
