Battlefield 5 Has Been Delayed By a Month

Smart. RDR2 = Godzilla

Yup, though the official line is "hurr durr game needs polish". I don't recall any Bf game releasing in a "polished" state so that should be well worth the wait.:eek:

Re-read my question. Will there be any RTX games available at launch?

I doubt most people that pre-ordered the 2080 TI care about the lack of RTX at the moment, they're more interested in maximizing performance boost over whatever they currently have, which is why all the 2080 Ti's pre-orders are getting claimed within minutes of availability.

They are releasing it for Black Friday purposely devoid of early adopter feedback. They plan to suck. And exposing the public ahead of BF will only hurt BF sales.

More likely, they are delaying it to avoid competing with RDR 2 and the new Call of Duty and "improving it" is just a convenient excuse.

Eh, BF is a huge title as it is. More people know what Battlefield is than Red Dead. CoD was bigger but I don't think it is all that much anymore. It has been on a constant downward spiral the past few releases.

EA stock dove 10% on this news. Whoops

I remember when the Battlefront 2 news broke. Stock fell. After a bit went right back to pre-news price. In my opinion, looking at a stock's short-term performance is dumb as shit in determining how the market regards a company's long term outlook. Just gives people a cheap buy in.

Open beta starts September 6. By open, anyone can download and try it out without preordering. To purposely hide the game, a open beta isn't the right idea.

Hmm GTA is a massive franchise, and I'm sure that will bleed into Red Dead's marketing. Even if BF is wellknown, people only have so much money to spend at once. Pushing the date behind RD2 gives more development time, marketing time, let's the initial buyers of RDR2 play and finish the game, just in time for BFV to come out. Coming out before RDR2 would have people either stopping to play it or opting to buy it over BFV.

Man, all this RDR2 hype is not going to end well. Even the stock market is pumping Take Two on this game. I have little enthusiasm for it after seeing what's become of GTA. Maybe ill be wrong, but wont be surprised if it flops.

As for BFV, eh, I got burned pretty hard on BF1 when I got the complete game but all my friends bailed before the first DLC released, i'll probably pass on it until a steep discount appears.

I showed my 65 year old retired father a gameplay trailer for RDR2, he loves westerns big time but doesn't play video games.

Afterward he was asking what he needed go buy to play it.... I agree GTA5 Online has been a mismanaged nightmare, but RDR2's single player seems to call out to the farthest generation of people who could possibly be interested in playing it.

That's fine. The beta is still on for early September. RDR2 and FO76 will keep me plenty busy. This may be the first BF that I am not going to buy at full price... but we shall see.

Despite COD being "on a downward spiral" BFV had 85% less preorders than CODBLOPS.

i had the same issue in BF1 took a while to pick up enemies everything just looked green/brown

i cant tell if the games look better anymore. they require more powerful hardware but they dont look any more lifelike that 5 years ago. more detailed yes, but they look nothing closer when compared to a ww2 movie.

Funny, how as games and graphics get more realistic looking, digital representations of uniforms specifically designed to blend in and be hard to see suddenly blend in and become hard to see...

This highlights the issue of Ray Tracing! We will need to rethink how games are designed, if Ray Tracing is going to be successfully implemented and improve the experience.

Think about it, we have had 'fake' shadows and unrealistic lighting for decades, design used these limitations to create levels, character, items, etc all so you could expect to see and interact with them. Ray Tracing changes all that design, it will be a lot harder to spot things in dark corners, easier to hide in darkness, etc. Unless Tomb Raider took this into account, I'll bet all sorts of details, items and clues get lost in the RT.

Since I'm getting bored of PUBG, I need new games.... was meh excited about BF5. Since I'm off work all next week, I'll probably preorder BF5 to get early access to the open beta, play the hell out of it and cancel said preorder and go balls deep into Red Dead Redemption 2.

as much as I loved BF3 and BF4, BF1 burned me and their whole warped #MeToo style approach with BF5 isn't blowing my skirt up.

Comes out the same day as Farming Simulator 19, now. I know which one will be getting my money.

Great, more time for the dev's to virtue signal!

Fat transgender on front lines incoming.

Oh honey I just fell off my chair. I adore Battlefield, I've sunk 1000 hrs into BF3 and BF4 collectively and look forward to BF5. But RDR2 is The Black Hole and will swallow everything that comes near it.

Again, factor that GTA5 was the biggest selling entertainment product of all time at around $6 Billion dollars. RDR2 is THAT developer's next big openworlder, and has been hugely anticipated since RDR1 in 2010 - a 10/10 masterpiece in its time.

RDR2 will break records, just a question of how quickly.

everyone begins playing it.
Only the console peasants...
I have zero intention of playing a shooter on a console ever again, I've learned that much from GTA5 at least.

while there is shooting in gta5 i wouldn't call it a shooter.

I am a big Battlefield fan, but I been pessimistic about this game since the reveal in May. I want it to be good, but the marketing on this game has been almost non existent. BF3, 4, 1...all had decent marketing campaigns, tons of videos, etc...this one is mostly quiet. I watched some twitch streams in the closed alpha/beta...it looked alright. Open BETA next week, so ill have a more solid opinion of the game and whether or not im just going to chance Fallout 76 for my fall online game experience.
BF3 had the best marketing campaign of any game with their secret websites, small teasers and hidden info, the hype was just insane.
This is by far the worst marketing campaign Dice/EA has ever done for any game and it is so sad because BF5 plays so well, and I prefer the movement/shooting/hit reg over BF3/4 and that says a lot. The developers at Dice has done a great job with the game it self, but a couple of people in charge of marketing needs to get the boot.

Edit: let me just say that I absolutely hate the movement/shooting/hit reg on BF1 and it is much more comparable to earlier BF games in that regard, except for visuals.

It looks beautiful and has the same chaotic feeling that all Battlefield games do which is great.

I am just not sure that I want another historical shooter with only iron sights or similarly poor sights like the reflex sight in BF5. That ended up being very frustrating in BF1 where all of the guns had terrible sights and some of them would take up a 1/4 (or more) of the viewable screen. I realize that they can't stray too far from that for historical accuracy reasons, but it certainly impacts my personal enjoyment of the game.

However, If they release Bad Company 2 remastered as a content add on for BF5... :adollars:

Even in BF3 and 4 I only used iron sights. I don't really get why people prefer a slower reflex sight or red dot, but I guess it comes down preference. In BF1 I have the most hours with M95 iron sight.. Yeah i like iron sights lol, which is also why I'm slightly disappointed with DICE not giving the assaults bolt actions(kar98/ Lee Enfield) and garands as they were the main weapons of ww2.
