Cyberpunk 2077 Game Play Demo Is Being Streamed on Twitch

Honestly, the graphics look to be at a level where I would expect the final product to look similar. They do look amazing, but not to where there should be any significant downgrades required.

Agreed. It's stylized with a nice mix of art and realism. Nothing looks horribly taxing while looking pretty amazing in the process. (at least nothing beyond what a good system and current gen higher end card (1080 maybe?) wouldn't handle IMO) I doubt it will get a downgrade. Optimization sure.

Damn the boners around here are insane. Looked OK to me. Like, graphics are nice enough but game play had a VERY Deus Ex feel to it.

Will be a good game I'm sure, no doubt, but I'm not like super stoked for it or anything. Looks pretty typical Neo-Punk future FPS with RPG elements tossed in to me.

Which is precisely my favorite genre. I mean, it's called "Cyberpunk". It's pretty clear what you're getting yourself into with that. If that's not your thing cool, but for those who are into this sort of thing, this game couldn't look more perfect. And from a good studio. Also, there's really nothing else like it with a world its size or as much to do.

I'm not saying it doesn't look good or anything, I'm just not losing my mind over it while blowing loads like some others are. Maybe it's a genre I've played for a while but I just saw a more fleshed out Deus Ex with prettier graphics.

I suppose due to hype and years of it I was just expecting more. What that more is I dunno but it doesn't have it. Plus, it's not like CDPR has a good track record of not changing their games a lot prior to release so I take all this with a grain of salt. Even The Witcher 3, despite it being a good game, had a lot of changes made even just a couple months prior to release. They might make great games but they're certainly no honest developer. They were denying TW3 downgrades all the way past launch...

I agree it looks like Deus Ex but with less... confinement.

Which... is good. That was the problem with the whole Deus Ex series. It wanted to be a huge urban environment, but in the case of the original, the city felt empty. In the later ones, they felt more alive, but walled off into small sections. Still excellent games for sure, but CDPR is giving us an entire city in this setting to go play in. How is that not cool?

Which is fine by me, since the Deus Ex series is dead for the forseeable future. Man, I hated the way MD ended, like it was at the half-way point of the game.

I'm not super worried about how it will look. I'm sure it will look fine. I'm more concerned about how it will play. Looks aren't sh*t if there's no substance.

Yep. DeusEx HR and MD were great, but a mile wide and an inch deep.

Cyberpunk looks like it's going to be a mile wide and a few miles deep.

That's the distinction being missed by the "it just looks like any shooter" pov. Like a good book, it will pull you in a bit at a time and next thing you know you're completely absorbed.

It looks like a playthrough will be good for 100+ hours, replayability will take that further. I imagine it's hard to convey the total experience with a few minutes of demo.

Where are you getting 100+ hours of play time from? Like, at all?

I started with my Witcher 3 + DLC's total playtime = 155 hrs, which is a little above average 132hrs according to Gamelengths.

I factored in CDPR's various statements that "Cyberpunk 2077 will be several times bigger than the Witcher 3 and its DLC's"

I multiplied by the fact Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG with a character creator, unlike Witcher 3 which was a static protag.

If anything, my calcs are way low and 100 hrs is stupidly conservative. Don't be surprised if its 200-250 for a completionist playthrough.

I'd say wait. The game doesn't even have a release date yet, not even a vague release window. Going by CDPR's statements it might not even release until 2020, or later. No point upgrading for it right now.

A 2020 release date... how apropos:
Cyberpunk2020.jpg

But I'm secretly hoping for a GOTY release in 2020 with extra swag.

I also hope they can maintain the detail and depth of story and environments through the entire game. Many games have a well-developed beginning and then begin to drag as designers/writers lose focus and zeal putting in placeholder missions as simple vehicle to reach the finale.

It looks cool, if they can pull it off. This is just about the only thing that could pull me away from WoW.

Shit I swore I would never pre-order another game... but this looks like awesomesauce!

Well factor the quality of the Witcher 3 writing and missions. That was a game highly regarded for finally not insulting gamers with flller missions and copy-paste fetch quests. They were pretty much all unique and the quality was consistent throughout. Some of the side missions were so in depth that you forgot you werent progressing the main mission.

I think what's taking them years and years to finish the game isn't about trying to be a Crysis 3 slayer graphically, but the sheer volume of work required for the missions, recorded dialog, quest branches, and testing all that shit.

To be fair... Deus Ex was just a less fleshed out Cyperpunk 2020 on a computer screen instead of with a GM and your friends....

Saw someone on Twitter say that Cyberpunk looks like what Deus Ex should have turned into. From the gameplay reveal I would have to echo that statement. The level of freedom and options Cyberpunk seems to present the player are well beyond what Deus Ex was going for, both the original games and the newer ones.

WARNING!!!
End result will not look as good (they never do)

I feel another Watchdogs is coming.

Stream looked amazing but I will wait till release to get excited

Except the graphics in this look meh. Not horrible but nothing spectacular either.

Looks like a Deus Ex knock off which wouldn't be bad. I suspect a lot of fluff & stick fetching for 30 hours though, which will just ruin any mood or plot they tried to set up. Its the trend these days.

Deus Ex was fine the way it was in MD. Having some decent hub areas and unique mission areas are ideal. Otherwise you spent too much time traversing back and fourth, or picking up items and other nonsense that gets in the way of the actual game.

Witcher 2 was a huge offender of this. Running around like a jackass to mash the mouse 1 button (or whatever it was) to pick up every scrap of coin which was carelessly shoved in every damn thing was not fun. Problem is you needed to do that or else you wouldn't have the money to buy any weapons/upgrades. Very lazy game, and being open world almost guarantees it.

Color me skeptical, if CD Projekt fumbled so hard with Witcher 2 I can't see them remaining focused with an open world game.

i dont get the hype over the visuals.

looks current gen. And we still have ~2 years to go.

action sequences no diff then what we have now too.

damn, and i was expecting Judge Dredd / Fifth Element / Minority Report levels from the hyppppppeeeee.

I watched about 90 seconds of it. Just enough to verify that it's exactly what I'm hoping for. Now I have to steer clear of footage until it's released.
Same

Looks exactly like the game I want to play

Also love that it is indeed a mature game for grown ups

Mmm

Now I do have a reason to actually get a RTX card, though considering the rumored perfomance hit better go big or go home on that one

Right right, not like Witcher 3 was a success or anything, on all platforms or something

An Intel Core i7 8700K at 3.70GHz CPU, Asus ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming model motherboard, 32GB of G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 RAM with a speed of 3,000MHz, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti graphics card, and a Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD, all powered by a Corsair SF600W power supply.

I must have skipped where that was mentioned, good shit man, thanks for that. Between that and the settings picture someone put up on page 2 I feel like this will help justify a 2xxx series card when I get back to the states lol

I never believe graphics in demos, even from good companies like CDPR. The game systems look fantastic, though, I may actually get thins thing before it's in GOTY edition for $10. I haven't done that in a very long time.

we expected more from them. Nothing special about this vid. Was prepared to be wowed off my pants but it just looks like a game that could be released this year....

I have to ask what you're comparing this too, because it makes no sense to me.

Success doesn't = good. Call of Duty sells pretty damn well but those games are lazy as hell.

Gameplay that forces the player to run up to every cabinet, basket, or table to snatch coins off of it is lazy. Money has value and people tend not to throw money into these places and leave it there free for the taking. You're forced to do these boring, repetitive actions over and over. Enter a room, first thing you need to do is collect crap. Lame & lazy. Running back and fourth and item fetching isn't all that great and just wastes time. Oh wait, stop talking and moving NPC, I need to grab these coins! Okay done, what was the conversation about? Great design there.

I don't really like RPG games but Deus Ex kind of hit the spot and this looks a lot better in seemingly every way. They did good to abandon the silly fantasy shit.

Also, watching that footage made me feel small and worthless. They have some pretty impressive tech

I love RPGs, but agree. More along the lines of System Shock, Deus Ex, Prey etc. This one looks like it will be just about the perfect AAA style game for me. (Independent (sorta) dev with AAA budget is a good thing :D ) I'll play some of the fantasy oriented RPGs too, but I was more into them during the Ultima era. These days I really prefer a gritty urban or space type setting with my RPGing.

What fantasy stuff are you talking about?

While I don't want another Deus Ex game, but man there was some crack in the last one that made me feel like I needed to play it every night in a row till I completed it.

I'm guessing he meant that he's more into the Cyberpunk setting than the Witcher setting.

Okay, that makes sense. I was thinking a totally different direction and wondering if he was conflating Shadowrun and Cyberpunk.

It looks really cool so far, I do feel like some of the people from E3 over hyped it a bit, that's to be expected although watching and playing are different experiences. I Will definitely be keeping an eye an it. CDPR is one of the few game companies that I've been very happy with these past few years so I'm hoping for the best.

From the sounds of it, they just got out of pre-alpha for the e3 demo and polished up what we saw. So I think a year or more realisticly 2 years looks like a good bet for release.

Is anybody else feeling slightly off about how a bunch of slang was changed from CP2020 to what's being used in the dialog?
