I was just slapping together a system with some spare parts laying around and when i got to the cpu, I couldn't decide which one to use. I know the i7 is a bit older, but has a higher clock, the i5 supports higher freq ram and is newer. What should i do? The system will have 32gb ddr3 2400mhz ram, 250gb ssd and gtx1070.

If you have the parts and the motherboard supports it, looks like the i5 is slightly faster single thread and thanks to hyperthreading would have access to more threads:
