For Honor: Starter Edition is free on steam right now. Just click install and you get the game to keep. The only difference between this one and the standard is cost to unlock new characters through play time.

I bought this when I got my Xbox One X but I decided 30fps wasn't for me. Is the single player campaign any good?
 
I think this business model is pretty good. I loved r6:siege. I bought it for like 10 or 15 bucks and slowly unlocked the players I wanted... REALLY slowly. I eventually caved and bought the full game.
 
tried this - uninstalled during the tutorial.

the timing based gameplay is punishing...

graphics look nice - but the games not for me. (and I really enjoy Chivalry - which this game is sometimes compared to)

Well...it's "good" in that there is a free version, but it's bad in that it's basically a demo because unlocking characters is insufferably grueling.

When you get into the flow of it the timing really isn't all that punishing. I tried to be rigid at first, but kept getting my ass handed to me. I just let go and let myself react naturally to what was happening and started doing much better. The multiplayer is a lot of fun.
