"Inauthentic Behavior" is being targeted by Facebook and Instagram, which it owns. The company does talk about identifying these inauthentic accounts earlier, but left these accounts up, and allowed them to purchase advertising, so they could further understand their playbook and the extent of their network. The accounts had garnered 155,000 followers with three accounts on Facebook, and 76 on instagram. You can check out the bottom of the linked page for some of the content, which is highly political.

Based on FireEye’s tip, we started an investigation into “Liberty Front Press” and identified additional accounts and Pages from their network. We are able to link this network to Iranian state media through publicly available website registration information, as well as the use of related IP addresses and Facebook Pages sharing the same admins. For example, one part of the network, “Quest 4 Truth,” claims to be an independent Iranian media organization, but is in fact linked to Press TV, an English-language news network affiliated with Iranian state media. The first “Liberty Front Press” accounts we’ve found were created in 2013. Some of them attempted to conceal their location, and they primarily posted political content focused on the Middle East, as well as the UK, US, and Latin America. Beginning in 2017, they increased their focus on the UK and US. Accounts and Pages linked to “Liberty Front Press” typically posed as news and civil society organizations sharing information in multiple countries without revealing their true identity.

PLEASE KEEP YOUR POLITICS OUT OF THIS DISCUSSION

Oooh, a post about Facebook being Facebook in a heavily politically charged manner followed by a large ominous threat to keep politics out of it...

Let me go grab some popcorn right quick.

Real and authentic on Facebook and Instagram - I just about snorted coffee out of my nose!

I wonder if they will do the same for US controlled accounts trying to "influence" politics in other countries. And don't tell me there aren't any.

Why bother to try and influence opinion in social media when you can just bypass it all and buy the leaders of said country off or straight up install your own puppet government?

Based on the sample content, FB has a lot of work to do on US based accounts publishing stuff that looks much the same.

Indeed. I was told getting bombed is worse than letting certain American companies extract as much as they while paying a fixed fee. Some people just know how to do business

I hope this will be read as a technical, and not political comment.

Even though some of the targeted accounts may be fake (while some of them surely won't have been), I overall very much distrust Facebook's assessment (which Facebook has said they aren't certain of), which is based on the analysis of the US government and NATO-funded information war institution Atlantic Council and their DFRLab, which itself has a notorious reputation for inaccuracy and false accusations concerning the very subject of fake and propaganda accounts, which is what the Facebook accounts bans are targeting.

Atlantic Council itself is openly and unapologetically pro-war, and is made up of many current and former US government and military personnel, including the following people:

So, when Facebook says that they identified accounts as fake based on Atlantic Council's investigation and recommendation, it's really people like those in the above list, including other US government and military persons, who are talking through Facebook. Which means, Facebook's claims, investigation, and responses are actually US government agency claims, investigations, and responses, and so are not impartial but are part of those agencies' information war efforts.

Nakedly Political post asks people not to weigh in politically.
Looks like winter to me.
