Pre-Order Sales of Battlefield V Have Been “Weak”

Pretty sure the sjw's were not going to buy the game before or after they got pandered to.

Pretty sure the core player base does not care about which gender is on the cover, or what their default avatar looks like.

Pretty sure the core player base does not care about historical accuracy considering they dont mind fixing a tank in 30 seconds using a blowtorch, or taking multiple rounds to the chest and healing up in the same 30 seconds.

Pretty sure the core player base wants a consistent ambiance, linear learning/difficulty curve, and the game to be fun to play.

Pretty sure the core player base is not going preorder when prerelease meta looks like a mess.

I buy all of the Battlefields, but I don't pre-order anymore after what happened to BF4. I waited six months to buy it.
I'll checkout BFV around Christmas.

Hopefully, sales of this and CoD begin to wane and we see their massive development budgets put into new IP.

Same here so far. I will see if there's a sale on cyber Monday like bf1 had (33pct off), and if word of mouth is good buy it.

According to a Dow Jones report citing a statement by financial services firm Cowen, Battlefield V pre-order sales have been “weak,” indicating waning interest in the popular shooter franchise.
Exactly like the waning interest in Star Wars, right? There seems to be an epidemic of waning interest nowadays! Or perhaps, just perhaps, it is not such a good idea to bring your ideology into entertainment after all.

I'm fine with the response he stated. Honestly, I feel the whole gender thing was blown out of proportion, by a tiny minority. I doubt the vast majority of gamers care about the historical accuracy of Battlefield, and if women can be soldiers in the game.

Rather, I have a big feeling that EA's track record of microtransactions galore built into games had a much bigger impact on the lack of preorders.
No just, no. Everything would've been fine, if they hadn't attacked their own fans. That doesn't go down well, regardless of your stance on women in WW2. His response was completely unnecessary and that is what causes the major backlash they're suffering now. You don't talk like that to your customers, regardless of being right or wrong.

This is just putting the SJW on notice that people are fed up with their crap. This is the straw breaking the camel's back. One could argue that this is not a big deal and that is true but all the "not a big deals" have been accumulating and accumulating and people are fed up. A line is being drawn in the sand and I for one will not support "anything" that stinks of SJW BS in games, movies, etc. etc.

Really, that's the excuse they are putting out there for sales on a crap looking game being low?

Can only speak for myself, but I find the removal of boob physics from DOA to be way more offensive than a woman in Battlefield

People don't want to sit on their hands and watching paint dry, so they will trade in historical accuracy if there's a penalty that keeps them away from actually playing. Most people are visual anyway. Especially when that was suppose to help distinguish the game from all the others.

Lol, who wants to pre-order a game from EA? Long time Battlefield fans like myself still remember what can only be described as the the Battlefield 4 beta test that seemed to still be underway for several months after the final game supposedly launched. Besides, the game will launch in October but will be 30-50% off on Black Friday on Origin like it always is, and at least then you have time to see if they crapped their pants on the launch again.

Yeah, let's pretend it's the mere sight of a woman that drove away all the customers. After all the entire gaming world is comprised of woman hating incels, right? It couldn't be EA's recent track record with making shit games.

Shit games that are skeletal vehicles for even shittier DLC.

EA's problem is the games they make, not the impotent rage of a hand full of basement dwelling outrage addicts.

This shit right here. Maybe there are hordes of incels out there shitting themselves about a FEEEEEMALE in a video game, but I think it's far more likely that people are finally learning that EA makes shitty, trash games that are overpriced and under-deliver.

Battlefield V pre-order sales have been “weak,” indicating waning interest in the popular shooter franchise. In what may or may not be a coincidence, DICE CEO Patrick Soderlund stepped down this week. This was the same executive who told gamers dissatisfied with EA's creative direction not to buy the game back in June.

Correlation is not causation.

Had this been the "Band of Brothers / Saving Private Ryan" skinned Battlefield that some of the gamerbros that had toddler meltdowns a few months ago had demanded, pre orders would still be +/- 5% exactly the same. I'd lay money on it.

Lots of external factors contributing that weren't present in previous Battlefield launches, for broad declarations based on a single factor to be anything other than pointless. The Fortnite juggernaut is sucking up a lot of oxygen in this space now; some gamers have seen that Origin Access is a much more economical way to play; some people just have Battlefield fatigue.

So the idea that a thirdhand claim of "lower preorders" = payback to teh SJW's for defending the black lady nazees, is laughable. The pool of "swing buyers" that would decide to play the game or not based on the overblown identity politics is very small.

But echo chambers are fun, Wheeeeeee!

I never purchased any Battlefield games until now. If we don't count the one that was bundled with my 290X.

But I was genuinely excited for this. Yes, having female characters and doing a spin on history in a game can be fun. And I don't care that much about historic accuracy. So I was ready to bite.

But not after a sjw cuck tells me that whoever thinks this is not historically accurate is a misogynist conservative pig. I'm not touching the game with a ten foot pole now, I'm not supporting soy boy's revisionist agenda with my money.

Bad Company 2 was more advanced than 3 or 4 in terms of environmental destruction, and how it affected gameplay.
It also defined the infantry model all the games since have used.
Give me BC3 or BF 2143 already
EA and their cookie cutter model....

You know you've had it too easy for too long when the sky is falling because not enough people will buy your product sight unseen. How many of us have been burned at least once needlessly pre-ordering a game we got a little too enthusiastic about? There's just little to no reason to pre-order games, especially when you drop the same fucking game every 6-12 months.

How about you do it the old fashioned way and release a baller game that everyone tells every one of their friends about and sell your product based on the actual product?

Go ask EPIC how engaging the community and delivering quality content might just help the bottom line more than milking your fanbase with some sales strategy you cooked up by adding CoD to Madden.

If the game is awesome you'll get your sales. But I forgot, who cares about the sales (or customers) after release when you've already got the next 2+ games in the pipeline?

They should just give us Bad Company 3 already.

But I'd love even more to get another Battlefield 2142...
destroying buildings was so much fun lol.....and yes i would preorder 2142 no mater what....thats how bad i miss it lol....

The problem is, while fun, you could straight up ruin some maps with the destruction. Not that big an issue in Conquest, but in Rush you could basically reduce some maps to a half mile open field that attackers had to push through with literally zero cover.

Damnit now I am tempted to buy this just to see the RTX effects since I ordered the 2080ti

That pink freaks hair better shine with god rays or such..........

As has been mentioned in this thread over and over..I would wager good money that a female avatar being in the game isn't the cause of this..It is just nothing more than a scapegoat being perpetuated by certain groups. There are a list of far more valid reasons pre-orders are weak and hopefully sales are weaker.

Hell yeah, bring back Bad Company. Still not pre-ordering though.

You forgot, "consistently pushes unfinished projects to market" as well, but I do suppose everybody's playing that game these days.

Yes BC2 destruction was so "advanced", each map had a bunch of the same copy-paste building, and they all collapsed the same way. Lack of left-right movement (strafing) while running was also migraine inducing.

BC2 was great for its time, but people seem to remember it with rose colored retrospect goggles. If you played a round of BC2, BF3 and BF4 back to back, you would not want to keep playing BC2.

Yup. Check out Golmud Railway for example. The town can be entirely destroyed, BC2 style. And looks less scripted. BC2 was a consolized game. No prone, no bipods, short range, funneled maps, loose shooting mechanics not designed around mouse and keyboard. BF4 was even further fine tuned for PC. The accuracy of weapons and precision you can employ when you learn to play is much higher than pretty much any mainstream game.

BC2 was good for its time, but is not something I ever want to play again.

The last time battlefield had something unique going for it was with Bad Company 2. It had an ok amount of interactive environmental physics which really changed how you played against players online. It certainly wasn't at the level of Red Faction 3 or Cellfactor. However, for a popular AAA multiplayer competitive game, it certainly stood out.

Really? Just because the Wehrmacht was composed of men from further afield than Germany does not imply that there were black women toting Mausers, operating an 88, crewing a u-boat, driving a panzer... Come on dude.
Wasn't meaning battlefield is accurate, just that a lot of people don't know how diverse (in terms of races of men) that the German army was.

Yes, the tetraplegic trans-race xir driving a 88mm equipped fw-109 is obviously fantasy. But the racial diversity is actually accurate for many of the varied battlefield areas across the world.
