Formula Boinc 2018 Strategy

Alright boys. The AN sneak attack is under way.

4 rigs / 32 cards are up.

The other 3 rigs / 24 cards will be up sometime Wednesday-ish.

Edit: i call it a sneak attack, but.. Ars T may not think so. :D

Edit: Times are looking good. ~9min with 120w TDP limits in place. Roughly checks out.

The Microcenter deal really had me thinking about getting a Threadripper 1950 setup. Would love a new computer. Just not the right timing.
 
I shot all my computer money for this year already, unfortunately. I will have to wait until next year's bonus to get a 2990X. Hopefully prices will be lower by then, as well. Same with RAM.
 
I'm running Enigma now, though only with two GPUs. Won't make any big difference. Just to contribute some points and keep the distance between them and us "manageable".
 
phoenicis are your GPUs gonna participate in the SETI WOW event? If not, then while GPUGrid doesn't have any work atp1916 is trying to gain us a position in Amicable Numbers. Yesterday he did 33M points and that number will continue to go up as the pending tasks settle with a steady output. I got some of my GPUs backing him up as well. We need almost 1B points to gain first.

If not on Amicable Numbers then perhaps Primegrid to defend our position since XS is doing ~20M PPD on it right now.
 
I put my 1080 Ti on Amicable. I should be able to pull a little over 1M ppd. Every little bit helps.
 
Hell yes. I might be switching over to PrimeGrid on all my GPUs though. Simply because we can't let XS catch us there, too. I have confidence that atp1916 will gain 1B points and claim 1st for us in a month.
 
I left all my CPU's on SETI for the Wow! event, but I have switched my GPU's to PrimeGrid. I was going to wait until after the Wow! event, but decided my GPU's are better utilized on PrimeGrid now. I think I should be able to get 7-8 million PPD, but I won't know for sure for several days. Hoping to add a RTX 2080 (or 2080ti, if the rumors are to be believed) to the GPU mix next week, as well.
 
Yeah, I got AN.

My rigs have had some stability issues, and i still got a couple more to put up. I was aiming for Wednesday, but meh.

I don't think it'll take a month though once i get em all up.
 
Just hit my 10M milestone in Enigma. Will move to PG later tonite. I'm skipping WOW.

It seems that XSUSA is focusing on low-hanging fruit projects considering that they already have 18 marathon projects at the top spot.

Yeah, need to slow them down.
 
Yeah GPUGrid has been down for a while now. Which sucks because I got a new recruit in GPUGrid, only for him to get frustrated with the lack of tasks. I think he has given up sadly. Should have made a post pushing for PG or something else, but hey hindsight is 20/20 after all.
 
Yeah... GPUGrid has been rocky for so long that I try not to use it as an upsale but rather an added benefit...lol. Good cause, good science, bad project IMO. They no longer have anyone familiar with the server side of things and are basically running on bandaids.

Switched over to Primegrid. atp1916, I think you've got it but just give me a shout if you'd like more support on Amicable.

I'm using the H115i that was cooling the 1950X it replaced. I only had a couple of hours to play with it before leaving on hols but it was keeping it in the mid 60s (C) at stock when running Prime 95 small fft test.

I'll need something beefier to tame it at any sort of overclock.

EXT64 XS noticed you hitting yoyo hard and someone jumped over there. They're out pacing us there now. Throw more CPUs at it.
 
phoenicis will do. I am half potential right now.

AN will be ours. Enigma also looks like an easy grab. I blew that project outta the water too.


... and i just secured 8.1c / kwh power coming in.
 
Didnt know your setup could rock enigma also. That will be a really good one to claim. We'd gain 17 points on XS taking first there. Since they're in first they'd lose 7 points and since we are in third we will gain 10 points.
