They did not name a specific release date but the information was straight from email I received at my gmail account from one of the people who works at Enermax.

I do really like their 360mm AIO from an aesthetics stand-point and the initial performance seems good, considering it's an AIO, but there were too many 1-star reviews citing corrosion/evaporation/QC issues for me to spend the money.

So...I emailed them about those issues and asked if they were working on a fix or an updated product for their 360mm kit and they responded with the info I mentioned above...

Hopefully, it'll be released sooner rather than later. Seems to me if they have a decent product on release day they would make more sales with the initial "surge" associated with launch day sales than if it took them 6 months to release something

If you're doing everything stock, the CPU will throttle at 68°C. For example, I saw the temperature on one computer hold at 68°C but the core speed dropped to 0.5GHz. It was very slow and almost unusable. When the cooler was new, it easily held the same computer below 60°C, running at 100% CPU usage on all cores.

What is your ambient temp, approximately?
I don't know the ambient temperature precisely, approximately 85F

I had HWINFO open the whole time Prime95 was running overnight, and the lowest speed on any core was 3.2ghz. Highest was 4.1ghz, so it never throttled seriously.

I can also run XMR Stak on the CPU and consistently get about 1.1khs, which is close to ideal. It's not throttling.

The fans are set very low, so if I wanted to ramp it up the temperature would definitely improve. The cooler is definitely doing it's job, so maybe I'm lucky, but I'm just not affected by any QC issues after 8 months.

The temps on mine have been creeping up lately. It is a little over a month old, but I am compensating by tweaking my fan curve which is working ok for now. Rather than RMA it, I will replace it with a custom loop once the rest of my bits & pieces arrive from China (gotta love China post..).
That done, the AIO will be taken apart, thoroughly cleaned, quick-fittings added to the hoses, NOT refilled and stuffed back in its box as a backup. When/If I need it again I will load it up with coolant and reinstall where it is needed.

Sounds like a good plan! Maybe you can check for damage/corrosion in the water block. It might be risky to use again but if you do, you should probably add some kind of anti-corrosive.
 
Just to add another data point. I built a few TR test workstations, well 2, then when I went to build the 3rd I found all the coolant had leaked out inside the package. Contacted ENERMAX and they swiftly shipped out a new unit (and free earbuds) and didn't ask for the old one back.
Initially I thought it had been damaged in shipping, but now I see it's not that simple. I guess I better swap them all out, as I don't want to lose a $7K workstation to a faulty AIO cooler.

Oh indeed the waterblock and wet chamber of the pump will be coming apart & cleaned. I do expect to see some galvanic interaction going on between the copper waterblock and aluminum radiator. I suspect the worse damage I might find is organic growth happening. I don't worry so much about the corrosion unless the oxide is blocking heat transfer or the block's cooling grooves and I can clean that stuff up pretty quick. Cleaning the organic crap out of the system would take a lot more work - particularly from the rad.

The organic crap is similar to the crap that builds up in retail and commercial refrigeration, we get it all the time at work. We usually add a chemical to the drains to stop it building up but i don't know if that would react well with the various parts of the AIO
 
Do you plan on doing a review? I think my 360 is starting to degrade and I want to hold off as long as possible before getting it swapped out, since I don't have an alternative cooler and I don't want to buy a bulky air cooler i'll pick up another Liqtech but I don't want a rerun of the same issue

Thanks for the input. I have heard about leaks but I haven't experienced any, yet. Do you think there's any chance that shipping caused the leak in your case? Was the box damaged?

If the corrosion (or organic growth?) from the mixed metals blocked circulation, could that create pressure or somehow cause leakage? It would be interesting if anyone has insight into that.

It's good to know Enermax responded quickly. I wonder if the replacements are any different. Are you going to try it or just get something else?

The package appeared to be undamaged and I had no clue there was an issue until I opened the box and found this:

I installed the replacement before I was aware of several people reporting issues with these. Since I still have the failed new in box unit I'll compare them to see if there any visible differences. I'll also crack this one open and see the state of the inside of one that was never used.

Still, 350w of heat dissipation on the 240mm and 310w on the 120mm is damn impressive.

The former should be good enough for a mild o/c on the 2990wx and great overclocked on the 2950x.

That is assuming the TDP rating is relatively accurate .. something we have no way of knowing because they don't give us the criteria they use to calculate TDP. ;)

techpowerup is under the mistaken impression that supports socket TR4/SP-3. It doesn't.
While the the cold plate flow design would be a good thing with AM4 and Intel CPUs, would not work well with TR the flow from one sode of the fins to the other would leave the packages closet to the outlet running hotter than those closest to the inlet.
 
Also, EK offers an AIO solution. You buy the CPU block and the rad/pump separately.It uses quick connects, but it states they come primed with EK's fluid. I was considering this option, but I don't care for the connectors... they just don't look clean. Everything else about the setup is awesome. I've considered buying one and swapping out the hose, possibly, and using one of their other blocks. I've considered just doing an open loop as well. However, after seeing this thread I might go with the Enermax unit. Especially if there's a better revision for the 20xx series CPU.
The QDCs are good quality, just they have that med/lab look going on. You might be able to die them a different color, if you wanted–I think it's just a plastic shell over the ceramic/glass connector.
 
So I disassembled the cooler and took pictures as I pulled it apart. Pics posted here http://nitsuj.org/images/H/TR4/

The interesting things to note. There appears to be corrosion around the torx screw holding the copper plate to the cooler and two colors of liquid (bright green and yellow with particles) came out. There was only a small amount of a gel like substance starting to form.

It looks like liquid originated around one of the torx screws attaching the cold plate. Along with the corrosion around the screw there was liquid under the protective sticker.

Wow. All these issues make me want to pull my Enermax and swap in a Noctua air cooler...
 
My 2nd enermax 360 tr4 has broken and I'm working on RMA. Had to pay cross shipping fee + return shipping last time almost $40 total. I'm asking that they will do it free this time. But I would rather just have my money back...
If I have to pay again I'll be out $80 as well as the original $150!
 
I almost bought an Enermax AIO the other day until I saw this. It matched my build the best and was the cheapest but I read too many leak stories. I'll just have to pay more for something that won't match.

So I'm seeing the same issues. My problem was this was a virtualization box in a rack. So the only thing I noticed was the machine randomly shutting off. After an afternoon of memtest and two more mystery shutoffs, I cracked the thing open and started it up on my test bench, and the FLIR showed the hot side sitting at about 80C, and the in-BIOS temp reading for the CPU at about 85C. What I thought was a memory issue causing a hard shutdown was actually my fancy pants AIO clogging completely and the CPU auto-powering down to save itself.

I'll be trying to get a full refund from them, unless they want to guarantee in writing that if it leaks, they'll cover the full replacement cost of everything it damages. Otherwise I'll RMA it and Craigslist it or something. I refuse to trust this model after seeing the teardown pictures with the entire coldplate coated in a biofilm gel.

Well to be honest there the entire coldplate wasn't covered in bio gunk. Those have a silicone sheet gasket between the spray plate and the cold plate's fins to force coolant thru the fins & out the sides. The bio gunk was building up where the water flow exits the cooling channels. But I agree that looks pretty gross for sure. I'm surprised because there is no light that gets into these closed loop systems to actually encourage growth. My thoughts is they failed to include a decent biocide in their coolant. Mine so far is not doing horribly so I have plenty of time for my custom parts to arrive.
 
At some point I'm gonna just do a custom loop for it, possibly when TR 3 hits using the new CCX cores on the 7nm process. In the interim, I'll just put a Noctua on it and dial way back on the OC. Shame such a nice performing part has such a hilariously awful failure mode.

Yeah, that is definitely not reasonable for them to make you pay shipping a second time (or even the first time, perhaps!). I also wonder what the point of a replacement is, if nothing has changed in the product.

Many countries have consumer protection laws that say seller has to pay shipping expenses both ways for defective product. Consumers in USA and EU countries have these laws. Often all it takes is pointing out to company what consumer law is and they pay / send courier pick-up slip.
 
Welp, just got my RMA processed, they're dropping a new one in the mail. I'll take some post-mortem pictures of the inside of mine when I crack it open in a bit.

Edit: Looks like massive coolant boil off and some chunky crud that build up in the microchannels. Also the copper is pretty badly corroded, it's a uniform nasty brown color across all the little fins.

They are cross shipping a new one for free this time instead of fee for cross ship. It should come today. Now I don't know whether to give them a 3rd chance or to switch to air. Need a thermalright silver arrow review...

Is there any law that states they have to give me a functioning product ever? Or does them giving me a cooler that lasts for 3 months 3 times means i'm out of luck when it breaks the day after the 1 year warranty expires? Somehow I've only got 2 months left on that 1 year warranty and never had a cooler that worked to its full potential more than two months in a row. Between my delays in starting RMA and there delays in responding and actually completing it, they skated through the 1 year warranty pretty easily.

Does anyone know if it would block the top pcie slot on a asrock x399? Do big air coolers normally block the top slot on x399 boards?

EDIT: looks like they have 2 year warranty at least...

Kinda surprised Kyle hasn't done one. His Threadripper has tested more coolers than any other I can think of.
