Instagram Users Are Getting Hacked

Instagram users are getting hacked and in addition to their passwords being changed; profile pictures are being switched to animated Disney characters. The hackers then change the email address to a Russian .ru domain to completely lock them out. This leaves the user to complain on Twitter about the loss of their account. Some users have had their entire Instagram lives deleted. Instagram has a list of recommended security protocols for affected account holders to follow including the deletion of spyware apps on their phones.

In its blog, Instagram wrote: "We are aware that some people are having difficulty accessing their Instagram accounts." The company pointed users to its guidance on hacked accounts and said people should revoke any suspicious third-party apps that might have access to their accounts.

I had signed up for an Instagram account years ago and, as always, use a stupid hard password. I have had sixteen e-mail notifications since December 5th, 2017 with "we've made it easy to get back on Instagram" in the subject line.
 
This crap is why I won't buy an Android again for my wife. She was bad enough for installing junk which made them run like trash, but the last thing I need is my shared purchases, credit card info and accounts stolen.
 
every decent looking female on Instagram claims to be an Instagram model these days...is that an official designation for females who can't get real modeling jobs?

It is. My IG feed is pretty much food, cars, and hotties.

That's what happened to a multiple of the models I work with, in a short period of time between one another. Few managed to restart their accounts under slightly different name, but still sucks.
