WoW; 7th expansion Battle for Azeroth

I’ve played Warlock since BC. I don’t care what the best currently is. As long as you’re not competing for top 5 it doesn’t matter.

Still trying to get adaptive vsync working though.

The newest NVIDIA driver released yesterday fixes G-Sync for both DX11 and DX12. Maybe Adaptive V-Sync is working now, too.

Thanks I’ll try the new driver this weekend. I’m guessing the game no longer doing real full screen and doing full screen window is the culprit. I know I can’t be the only one experiencing this issue yet I can’t find anything recent. I know I had to turn Xbox Game DVR off last year in the Xbox app because it was interfering with it but it’s still off.

Random question: It's been YEARS since I last played WoW, and I just started playing a Pally on the freebie version. If I renew my sub, will that allow me access to my other characters again? I haven't even touched my characters since probably 2007-ish?
Or am I SOL and have to start completely new?

Even though it's been ~11 years, your characters should still be there if you renew your subscription. You've only got 10 days to get them ready for BfA, though!

I think my highest character was a Level 40-ish something? I won't be anywhere near ready for BfA. But I'll still have fun grinding the levels and re-immersing myself in the game :D

well if you buy BfA you get a 110 boost, so youll have a character at current max level and can gear towards the new expansion for the next week and a half

when you purchase battle for Azeroth you get one free character boost to level 110. so choose the character wisely that you think you'll like the most and boost him and then you could start leveling them up right away for BfA

I've thought about doing that. Though I don't want to be that n00b that's rolling this max level character that I don't have any clue how to play either. But I'm sure I could do some questing and messing around with the character before doing raids and whatnot, too.

i used my legion boost on a rogue after not playing for years. it went well. i didnt raid, stopped playing again before it could get to that. the BfA boost went to a warlock and with the limited time ive played him i enjoyed it a lot. destruction first because its pretty easy to play. ill switch to the other specs a couple of hours into BfA

I'll second that - I recently used my boost after not playing for awhile and just eased into it. I was doing dungeons and my first raid (yay!) within a pretty minimal amount of time.

RE the 110 boost, what's the word on weapons? The green weapon they give you is a higher item level than the Legion artifact weapon (at least at first) and the special properties are disabled on the artifact too. Should you just stick with the green? Or is it worth it to do the artifact quests before BfA?

artifact weapons are pretty much useless now i think. they wont be in the new expansion, so feel free to use the green one. also, the daily bonus objectives in darkshore for the prerelease events have ilvl 210 armor and weapons as rewards, in purple, so those help with the transition to BfA

Thanks, I just unlocked those 5 minutes ago. I wasn't sure which of the 4 quest lines they stick you with after a boost was the right one, luckily I picked it first.

Edit: And apparently you only need to do that on one character. Any others you can skip straight to the world quests. But of course I go there on my warrior and the four rewards are a weapon for the wrong spec and three of the same item. :(

tell me about it. ive been waiting for 5 days for a second dagger reward to show up so i can ditch my rogue artifact weaps. today it finally showed up

Just to follow up on my adaptive vsync issue: It is working on newest driver but only in dx12. I’m guessing it’ll never work for dx11. I hope they fix the performance issues in dx12 for us nVidia users.

Also played through the new questline on my warlock and it was pretty boring so far. Hoping the expansion ends up good though.

Group Finder Auto-Accept Removed and Group Finder Addons Hotfix

http://www.wowhead.com/news=286260/group-finder-auto-accept-removed-and-group-finder-addons-hotfix

:(

Not cool, not cool at all Blizzard. So in a MMO game, meant to be group play with friends, they don't want us auto grouping anymore ? And just slog through solo and take longer ? Ok, thanks. Shit like this makes me wanna unsub. I used World Quest Group Finder all the time in Legion, it was a superb add on, and a must have. Doing WQ's in BfA will suck now.

Its worth noting that many of the Add-Ons/Mods are finding ways to implement some form of "directed custom/auto" grouping that became so popular in Legion with World Quest Group Finder (Note: WQGF itself is now deprecated and will not be updated, last I checked).

However, I am curious to see if Blizz has done the smart thing and basically built-in the functionality of Legion-era group-finderr mods - there is a long history of UI Addons setting the stage for default client features. Then again, there is also a precedent of addon functionality being nixed because Blizz felt it harmed the game or became "required" for play somehow For instance, ehe old "Decursive" mods that could allow automatic targeting of anyone with a status effect that you could cure and cure it with a single button press during WoW Classic. Allowing you to hammer the macro button to decurse your raid really quickly eventually impacted how raid developers created encounters, whereas it was generally assumed that people would have the mod so they dumped tons of status effects into certain encounters - I seem to recall AQ40 and Naxx being the big ones here. When it became apparent that it was overly difficult to do without Decursive or a similar mod, the devs eventually changed both the encounter and the mod API to not allow that kind of macro functionality. Stuff like this would happen as time goes on, including most recently end of WoD / beginning of Legion era where certain raid mods were nerfed to stop certain mouse-over markings and from allowing mods to "draw" on the game world so to speak.

I do hope that this will not be the case for Group Finder though, as the functionality became rather pivotal and I don' see the usefulness of it going away in BfA.

Edit: By the way, does anyone use - or would be interested in using - Dugi or Zygor guides? I tried out Dugi long ago, but I'm rather impressed with Zygor. I started out with using a pirated copy but eventually decided to subscribe because they're doing some really impressive work. It goes beyond just leveling guides for instance, such as a POI-notes (ie rare spawns and chests) system, and even a module that functions very similar to TradeSkillMaster, with a lot less configuration. There are lots of "little" features such as if you pass a player with a particular mount or battle pet, it will detect it and offer to show you where it comes from and a guide how to get it etc. I use an absolute ton of mods and Zygor I've found saves me from having to use many more.

Later today (ie...about 6 hours from this post) the new BFA update for Zygor - not just the guides/databases, but the UI itself is being updated from 6.x to 7.x - will drop. If anyone is interested in a trial feel free to PM me.

I just used my BfA Boost on a Rogue. I've been playing since Vanilla, but never got around to a Rogue yet. My mains are Ret Paladin, Frost DK, and a little Fury Warrior.

I mainly do M+ and Normal Raids, no PvP.

Is Assassination the spec to start with ? I want a fast warp speed attacker, if there's something like Fury ? Is that Assassination or Outlaw ?

I did all those, i think i probably was just wasting time though. 111 greens are probably iLVL 210+ out of the gate.

Guess we'll find out tomorrrow or wednesday when the servers finally work.

Give subtlety a try. That's the warp speed teleporting attacker. Kills some mobs on the first hit and you can teleport right to the next if they are close enough.

Get the belt and shoulders with essence if you can, huge DPS boosts from both for pve leveling in BFA. My rogue uses both and its pretty obscene how fast it clears mobs.

So for being brand new to Rogue, will be leveling him from 110 - 120 in BfA, you suggest going Sub for the PvE leveling ? At elast these ten leveling I will get good experience on learning the class.

This is a good guide for me to read;
https://www.wowhead.com/rogue-leveling-guide

Choosing A Specialization
Rogues are primarily damage dealers. What separates each specialization are their combat styles. Assassination favors slowly killing enemies by masterful usage of bleeds and poisons. Outlaw is more of a direct combat specialization, using blunt melee weapons and tricks like guns, grappling hooks, and even cannon shots. Subtlety favors the usage of stealth to engage enemies from behind, swiftly defeating them and going back to hiding.

Looks like tonight I am trying Outlaw, and maybe Sub too.

Legion launch was really smooth from what I recall. Servers weren't at capacity, no crashes, nothing like that. I didn't play WoD or Mists right at launch but I remember Cataclysm being sketchy and Wrath being absolutely terrible.

I did still use my boost on a character on a medium pop server, just in case. Don't want to wait around for an hour after work until I can even sign in on my main server.

Edit: Well geez I jynxed it, I can't login. Oh well, gives me time to make dinner now.

Me and my boss have been geeking out all day about it. I didn't know it was coming out today so I didn't even have the housekeeping stuff I wanted done. I miss the days where I could just take a few days off work, veg out, live off of pizza and coke, and enjoy a release. Now I have kids and a career that get in the way of my precious expansion day.

Outlaw fan too, even though it really isn't a rogue thing to speak of in my eyes. Subtlety is the pro spec really. Coincidentally I am off on workman's comp right as the expansion comes out. lol

Little bit of an adjustment playing on a 100 inch screen, faux 4K style!

bad pics..... Don't know why they got blurred on transfer, were crystal clear.

Yeah, it's live now, although the legacy servers are a mess. Took me 90 minutes in the queue on Stormrage and its super slow doing anything.

Edit: Annnnd just like that booted from the server. I pretty much expected this, but am still disappointed.

Based on how things are going, you're not actually missing anything since very few folks seem to be able to log on.

Looking great man :) Do you have the UI cranked up larger?

My warrior is on Stormrage, been playing a warlock on a lower pop server though.

I played for about 3 hours and it feels... off. The Alliance starting area is like the level 1 area of a really crappy WoW knockoff. They have you visit different landmarks throughout the towns like you're a moron that's never played before, there's a literal horse riding contest/competition thing, and there's no story or special missions to speak of, just generic kill X fetch Y quests.

It just seems too cheerful, almost childish, and nothing you're doing ties into the prelaunch story content. Maybe I'm used to the doom and gloom in Cataclysm and Legion or something, with the darker areas and the grander questlines?

I'll keep at it in hopes of the second and third areas being better, but having played every expansion, this is the worst starting area out of any of them in my opinion. Maybe the Horde one is better.

All kinds of colors to choose from and 6 levels of brightness. It actually helps with eye strain when gaming long sessions. I set it to low, pics were just to show it.
What projector are you using? I set this epson's iris to high speed and it works great in FPS games people are always bitching about. Been kicking ass at Lucio Ball in Overwatch which is fast and no lag on this bad boy.
