You're Doing it Wrong, Vertical Video Syndrome

Good luck watching that 1920 height on your landscape monitor (1080h). "But I have 4K" said the elitist turd. Yeah, but your audience DOESN'T. So you're really just in it for the self-congratulatory masturbation, aren't you?

I am hoping to be able to use that in a meeting with management at some point in the next couple weeks, thank you!

What I'd really like to see is more people shooting footage at 45 degrees in Rhomb-O-Vision. :p

It's natural to hold your phone upright. The designers need to throw down some Steve Jobs shit and make it natural to hold the phone and operate it in landscape.

P.S. Anyone who feels the urge to reply with, "I've always thought it felt natural to hold your phone sideways," has a poop-eating dog as their only friend.

Hey now, I've always felt it natural to hold my phone horizontally because of the games I play on it, and most other things I do with it. The only thing I do with it vertically are using the phone for a phone, getting to my apps, or the rare case of checking FB while I'm out. My backgammon, angry birds, sudoku, gem miner, Movies Anywhere, etc all use the phone horizontally. So, no, your argument is invalid.

To be fair, he didn't say you were wrong, only that your only friend is a poop-eating dog.

:D

Rhomboid.

I want the one the re-interprets everything into an M.C. Escher image.

To all the people posting *images* on a thread about *vertical video*, you might want to check the topic before posting on it. Honestly, my biggest grief with vertical video is my pc monitor is portrait, and vertical video is "converted" to horizontal seemingly everywhere. So instead of getting full-size on a portrait monitor, I get about 1/8 sized video.

I only shoot vertically when capturing people jumping from tall buildings.

Capture a photo or video however you want. If you are doing it for people or customers, do what your target group wants. I personally will orient based on whatever my subject is to capture more detail on the subject and less background.

I honestly feel there is no comfortable way to hold a phone out to record in any orientation. Maybe someone should make a dslr style phone case.
