USB 3.0 PCI Express Card Expansion card compatible with Ryzen?

What are you doing that needs the extra USB ports? The add-on cards work on any PCIe platform, but non-native USB 3.0 ports generally have lower performance than the native ones.

that bad reviewer doesn't know what hes talking about. there is no difference between using these on an intel or amd system. the amd thing he was seeing was probably the 64bit drivers as they are often label AMD64 something like that. the issue could be with the drivers for the usb chip used. so just get a decent one with good reviews.

I'd use an external USB hub if at all possible. I've had nothing but trouble with cheap PCI/PCI-E USB expansion cards in the past.

The last PCI-E USB card I had fried the PCI-E slot it was in and an attached USB sound card. I don't remember the model but it was a Rosewill and it looked like the card in the OP.

USB 3 add-on controllers are definitely as compatible with Ryzen as they are with the Intel competitors - as long as you have the free PCIe lanes to support it (most want only 1 lane and gen 2.0 is fine). Performance wise it comes down to the driver which again is handled by Windows. Having those USB3 ports available at post time or in bios remains to be seen though since they are not integrated in the motherboard or bios. Again that last is not dependent on CPU/chipset manufacturer but has to do with the post process when enumerating hardware resources.
