Japanese site Mac Otakara claims that Apple’s upcoming iPads will feature slightly smaller bodies and a relocated Smart Connector, but no headphone jack. Being that iPhones have not had a headphone jack since it was removed in the iPhone 7, this rumor does not seem particularly farfetched.

In the iPhone lineup, the headphone jack was removed for improved water resistance and to make space for internal components like a bigger battery, the Taptic Engine, and the rear camera system. It is not clear if Apple is facing the same space constraints in the iPad Pro with the introduction of the TrueDepth camera system or if this is a move to align iPad and iPhone features.

Vertical only keyboard? Isn't one of the biggest pros for tablets the fact that you can use the keyboard in landscape mode and still have some intuitiveness?

Apple really can't be that stupid.

Also, a tablet with bezels like that seems to be a disaster waiting to happen.

I would only consider Bluetooth as an acceptable alternative to 3.5mm if Bluetooth can transmit lossless without any compression and that electric power can be delivered to the headphones wirelessly.
Until then, I want my 3.5mm.

I'm fine with it for my daily life ... not used the jack in ages (only when in airplanes; then a dongle would be enough). BT wirh my B&W P5 or AirPods are enough for me and I really enjoy the wireless life

Going to be an amazing fucking tablet ( the pro model(s) ) , will be getting one for sure.

that's ok, as long as they leave the jack on lower priced models

Not to mention the audio lag, not all apps allow you to adjust/sync to video.

Like the iPhone .. some engineer reminded them that they get no royalties or license fees for the generic port ...

What really sux is that like the Pixels you cant charge and listen without having BT ..and BT needs to be charged too .

I've been using an iPad for years now. I have never connected my headphones to it. I've never even thought about it. Granted, mine's just an "around-the-house" use-case. I suppose if you regularly watch shows while on a train or something, it could be useful.

Your insight is a perfect match with Apple's courage.

Apple actively hate their customer base and seem to do everything they can to piss them off, yet they keep flocking back
Fuck that company

I don't miss the headphone jack on my iPhone as much as I thought I would, but on my iPad? I would definitely miss it. I already carry dongles for my Macbook Pro and don't want to be adding more for a iPad. I still have my iPad 2 and am perfectly happy with it. It just seems weird to me that Apple is reducing ports in their "Pro" models. Like, Apple literally advertised the iPad Pro as a laptop replacement... yet they want to take more shit out. There is absolutely zero reason to do that if you want people to be able to charge and listen to music at the same time.

Look at the new Macbook Pros--while they (shocker!) left the 3.5mm jack in place, they got rid of the standard USB port, the HDMI port, and the SD card slot. Despite its advantages, USB-C hasn't exactly taken the market by storm. Ok, so maybe I'm a bit slow to get with the times, but I have used standard USB, HDMI, and an SD card slot all in the past 3 days, and have yet to use any USB-C ports.
