Hello everyone,

Long time since I've posted here, long time since I've done a computer upgrade also so I'm a bit rusty on what I'm doing.
I need some help verifying my build and making sure I'm not being dumb and wasting money. Lets get these questions out of the way and I'll post what I've got so far:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, photoshop, research. No editing/encoding or anything demanding like that.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
~3k said and done
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

Ohio, Dayton

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Motherboard, faster boot hard drive, Processor, RAM, monitors, Waterblock for CPU, Waterblock for video card, Monitor arms, new 120mm fans, fan controller and a cool looking bay resivoir.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I already have a 620W Corsair PSU, Mountainmods U2 UFO case, water pump, radiator, auxilary hard drives.

I think the pump is a DangerDen M5 or something, its been so long I can't remember. I also still have a doublehelix resivoir that needs to be replaced from frozencpu.

6) Will you be overclocking?
Yaaaaas
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I'd like to get 2X 32" 144hz, 1440 res monitors
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
This winter, when its too cold to do anything outside in Ohio.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
SLI, overclocking bios, slot for the M.2. SSD
***

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I'm probably going to pick up a copy of WIN10 for this build.

What I've got so far:
Motherboard: MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON AM4 AMD X370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard for $150
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813144017

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8 Core 3.7Ghz Socket AM4 for $320
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113499&cm_re=ryzen-_-19-113-499-_-Product

Boot drive: Samsung 960 EVO NVME M.2 SSD for $123
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-960-...TF8&qid=1529891516&sr=8-4&keywords=nvme+drive

RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 16GB DDR4 3200 2x8GB for $215
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232476

Video Card: EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 All in one Watercooling for $489.
I'm pretty flexible on this change, I'd like to go SLI in the future, so maybe canx the all in one W/C set up since I already have the bits for a custom loop

CPU waterblock: EKWB EK Supremacy for $75
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod..._re=AM4_waterblock-_-2YM-0010-00037-_-Product

Fans: Corsair LL series LL120 3 pack /w lightning node pro $90
Probably going to pick up 2x packs of this since the case has 10x120mm fan spots and I'm doing a push/pull set up on the rad
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B075VGN...colid=30U5PUYW20UM5&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Corsair fan controller Commander PRO
https://smile.amazon.com/CORSAIR-CL...QZfsnwfL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=detail&th=1

I'm also thinking about a 5.25" bay device for controlling the fans, but with the above cooler I'm not sure its necessary.

What other fans should I throw in the case so I don't have to buy 15x25 dollar fans?

Monitors: Pixio PXC32 144HZ 2560X1440 monitor $500
I'm not really wise to whats the haps with monitors these days, but I plan on getting 2

Monitor arms:
AVLT Power Premium Aluminum

Looking forward to your guys' feedback.

Any reason you are going with the 1070 instead of, say, 1070ti, 1080, 1080ti?

If I was you, I would get a X470 mobo for that 2700X instead of that X370.

I wasn't sure which is more bang for its buck. I didn't look closely at what video cards are out.

Does this look like a better purchase? This way I can always throw a WC block on it.

The point is probably moot. Your build timeline is this winter. By that time, there's at least a decent chance that the new 11xx line will be out. That will change things. I'd suggest you re-evaluate closer to your build time. Even the processor should be in question with a 6 month timeframe, IMO.

I think if it were me, I'd either make the boot drive larger, or just go with a Crucial MX500 or some similar 2.5" SATA drive. The smaller sizes tend to run slower and it will offset the gains you might see from NVMe. If you are serious about wanting to overclock, I'd save money on a marginally slower SSD and put it into a better MB, a Crosshair VII or Asrock Taichi maybe, with better options and power delivery for overclocking. My experience is that the speed difference between SATA and NVMe is very hard to detect interactively, so unless a boot time of say 9 sec vs 10 is wildly important to you, it's generally not worth it. (and if it IS that important, don't handicap the drive by using the smaller size, go with a 500GB or larger.)

Great, so I'm looking at an MSI board. I like the features on it, however I'm not sure what brands are reputable these days. I had an EVGA motherboard a few years ago but it shit the bed when I was overseas. I've got an ASROCK right now that has been rock solid so far.

ASRock has a strong showing with their AM4 mobos. The Taichi line in particular.
