Samsung 950 Pro NVMe showing bad blocks?

I was having issues with my RAID array so I downloaded Stablebit Drive Scanner (SDS) and HD Tune to do some error checking. In the process, I get alerted by SDS that my 950 Pro has bad sectors/blocks totaling 6.0KB. HD Tune also showed that the 950 Pro has 3 bad blocks.

My question is, do I need to worry about this? Some articles I read online say this is completely normal for SSDs and you shouldn't worry. However, in my opinion, bad blocks are....bad. I did contact Samsung regarding warranty/RMA since it's only 2 years old (almost to the day). However, I don't know what their threshold for bad blocks is.

I should note, Samsung Magician software and other SMART software find no issues with the SSD - Only those two pieces of software thus far.

As an aside, I cannot upgrade windows 10 off of 1607. It errors out every time, failing at the downlevel phase for the first boot. I'm going to create a separate thread in the OS forum, but I wonder if this is due to the bad sectors?

Any help is appreciated!

Unless you get more bad blocks I would not worry (I use hdd sentinel to monitor see if your getting increasing error corrections and bad blocks, it its free for 30 days then up to you to buy it or get a Key after that)

How much data has been written to the ssd

Windows 10 Well I would just backup all data and reload windows 10 (delete the partitions and start a fresh or use diskpart to use clean command) as does sometimes happen windows brakes and your on such an old version of Windows 10 it must of been constantly failing to upgrade (just need a clean install

It's not a problem, there are plenty of reserved blocks available to replace failed ones. Only if you exceed the number of reserved space available it will become an issue, and 3 bad blocks is not a reason to RMA a drive. I'm not sure how many reserved space Samsung sets for 950 pro, but you can even increase that in Samsung magician software.

If the Samsung diagnostic says it's good, that's your yardstick - don't trust third-party software of any kind (within reason) for actual diagnostic purposes. If you're that worried about a few bad sectors/cells, put in for a warranty replacement with Samsung since the 950 is well within the warranty period considering it just a generation behind (not counting the newer x70 series.

Are you running as raid or ahci mode?

Download offline install disk and try that method or go into safe mode uninstall all raid / hard drive software. Reboot and switch to ahci mode
