I told them (along with 90+% of the backers) to do it slow, and am paying the penalty / reaping the benefits.
I member. The same shit was going down. The true believers making us feel awkward for suggesting that the 2014 deadline was unrealistic.. Now we're suggesting that the game is far behind even the most pessimistic development schedule imaginable. And they still act as if we're the ones talking crazy.90% of the fanatics didn't say to do it slow. They believed in every deadlines that was given, and mocked those who questioned the dates.
Wow, I never thought we'd get to this point.
Went from Crusader star port, jumped in my Hornet, flew out into space, checked out the space station from afar during an EVA, warped to another moon, entered the atmosphere, landed on the surface, explored the surface on foot, departed the moon, warped to a comm array, did an EVA inside the satellite and interfaced with the computer terminal. Then got a warning over com channel to stop snooping around and to leave the area and got attacked by a pirate as I was beginning to warp out.
Just an epic experience and I am glad I stuck with backing the development! The possibilities seem endless with this quantum leap in universe seamless-ness.
Most endless, surpassed only by the development time's endlessness. The possibilities seem endless
Nah, you must be mistaken, people keep telling me this game is vaporware. Maybe you were just rearranging jpegs on Meeho's HDD?
Uh, I can only imagine, since you only confirm my original point. Because I'd be satisfied if they gave me what I described there:I know reading is hard. I said that YOU will never be satisfied.
Yes it's great that I can take off from a space station and then aimlessly jump around between some regions of space. And if I have the patience of a sloth, then land on a planet. I'd be happy about that if it was still the year 2013.an actual complete game that has a clear starting point, proper exposition, proper tutorials, and guidance for new players
I used to be quite doubtful but it does look like the bones are there. That is the most important part. I'd rather have a seriously delayed product that is awesome in the end than no product at all. Sure the game has years left of development, but I am totally hooked now that I've seen the possibilities first hand.
Creating a HOSAS+Pedals setup as we speak. Two RealSimulator FSSB R3's (force sensing) just came in, two RealSimulator F-16 grips that will release in a few months and the new Thrustmaster TPR rudder system.

XDDReclaimer launched into orbit by an overcharged rock exploding. Notice the blast blew off a wing from the nearby Hornet.
It's not outdated, I don't think it is in its right role as most ships are not yet because they are heavily tweaking ship balance and stuff. Right now ships are a little messy with power plant adjustments, weapon over clocking and the ever popular semi auto stuff in with 3.2.1. But I love my Super Hornet still and it fits my play style just fine. There have been a few patches where it felt more like a bee but again, lots of tweaks and adjustments and as new systems are put in with each major patch and further tweaked in the sub patches most things change.
The current proposed plan for 3.3:
In regards to the last point, this is a big task and one that is sure to upset some owners but its something we've been wanting to do for a long time. Back in the old days there were a very limited selection of weapons ships could be given when released and we've never gone back and revisted them until recently with the power changes. We now probably have 4-5x the variety of weapons ingame than 2014 and as such not everything needs to come with Behring Cannons or Klaus and Werner Laser Repeaters.
- Some cannons will stay as semi-auto, will be labelled clearly as such in their names/descriptions and their RoF will be significant decreased, whilst their damage buffed to compensate.
- A majority of cannons will be "rebranded" as autocannons and returned to fully automatic behaviour. Their RoF will also be significantly decreased and have their damage adjusted in line.
- A review of all the weapons DPS will be done, to catch any outliers (Hello Glaive/Scythe owners) which were missed in earlier passes.
- Overheating will have another pass to ensure everything is working as expected in regards to the above changes, overheating will be the primary limiter on cannon DPS versus fire rate.
- All ships default loadouts will be having a complete ground up review as to whether what they come with is the most appropriate for their intended role.
Finally, for you Vanguard owners out there, I chased up the status of the alternate weapon Nose options and had meetings with the relevant stakeholders this week to make sure they are scheduled in advance of the variants. I can't promise an exact patch date but I'd hope it will be in the next couple to allow you to have 4+ weapon type choices on the nose mounts.
The space mining stuff kinda amuses me. The graphics look pretty and all but well, welcome to EVE or Space Engineers or Empyrion or several other space survival/construction games I can't remember off the top of my head.
Mining is better, but I really hope they get the filtration system doing something soon.
First look at the Origin 300 series rework, it should be out with 3.4 by the end of the year.

It's getting a nice bump in cargo capacity to 8SCU up from 2. The cargo elevator tucks nicely flush under the raised floor interior.

Interior is definitely a step up from the current one.

Someone asked that exact question and was answered directly by Todd Pappy on the most recent Calling all Devs.
Short answer: not as soon as you'd hope.
Well, the engine supports it (afaik), so I'd be surprised if it's not used in some way...I wonder if SC will feature ray tracing when it’s finished.

I got butthurt when I got pounded in the ass for the Nth time while being an original backer of this shitshow. Now I'm just amused. I still keep my SC card on the shelf to remind me just how retarded I could be.And even that is eclipsed by the endless butthurt of salty people who aren't even fans but still waste their time following a game they'll never buy. Sad...
