DARPA is gearing up for our soldiers to be able to control things with their brains. DARPA, if you have forgotten, stands for "Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency." The "Next-Generation Non-Surgical Neurotechnology" part of this is about wiring the soldier into control systems without actually wiring into the soldier...physically. But they have not ruled out the soldiers ingesting devices or chemicals to help the communication. The system is to also integrate tech for both neural recording (read out) and neural stimulation (write in). Download the PDF and give it a read. The good stuff starts on the bottom of page 4. This all got me thinking about Gamer from about a decade ago, or maybe with giant fighting robots like Pacific Rim. Phase III of the project does lay out viable demonstration scenario that could include "a human subject controlling multiple drones in a virtual reality setup, while receiving sensory feedback to portray the status of each drone." They are looking for less than 50ms ping times in Phase III. 50 ping is for plebs...

Check out the video.

DARPA seeks proposals to design, build, demonstrate, and validate a nonsurgical neural interface system to broaden the applicability of neural interfaces to the able-bodied warfighter. The final technology aims to enable neural recording and stimulation with sub-millimeter spatial resolution.

The Space Force. Halo. It's happening. The ink on my DD214 is fading.
