Scored a sweet deal on a wired 360 controller and I'm looking for recommendations....

Anything and everything really.... Thanks!

Shadow of Mordor
Witcher 3
Any Car racing game.
Mortal Kombat X
Gauntlet

Darksiders 1 and 2
Dragon Age: Inquisition plays a lot better with a gamepad than KB+M imo (KB+M implementation feels sloppy in that game).
Basically any platformer.

Most sports games like FIFA etc..

Fighting games (you can play killer instinct for free)

Pretty much any major title released in the last 8 years or so supports the Xbox controller and works really well with it (outside of pure strategy games that are PC-only or other oddball/niche games.) Seriously, just go on Steam, find some games that say either "full" or "partial controller support" and knock yourself out.

Sleeping Dogs
Mad Max
Batman games
Just Cause 2/3
GTAV vehicle / driving parts

Must have been a few others, but those off the top of my head. Don't remember if I played an Assassin's Creed on a controller. Tomb Raider and MGSV I wouldn't aim with the controller. Fighting oriented games are much better on the controller though.

Almost any game released in recent years that is not an fps should work great with a 360 controller, even the indie games. It's rare to find a game which doesn't support it.

edit: woops I now see colonelsanders said this exact thing a couple posts up

A tale of two brothers is amazing on controller
What remains of edith finch
Resident evil games
Tomb raider

Just finished up Sleeping Dogs.. good for driving and fighting. Same with the Saints Rows 3+.

IIRC A Tale of Two Brothers doesn't work without a controller, anyway.

Third-person shooters are better with mouse & keyboard.

Others pretty much have the right of it - controller support is ubiquitous these days with nearly all titles natively supporting XInput. Certain titles may be more or less enjoyable with controller use versus KB/M , but a certain amount depends on your preference. Overall I suggest that generally RTS, MOBA, FPS, TPS (That is Third person SHOOTER where you spent a lot of your time looking through crosshairs; something like Fortnite) . anything that makes use of a ton of buttons, anything that requires utmost precision, are made for KB/M best of all versus an Xbox-style controller. On the other side, many "retro" titles, 2D and 3D platformers, fighting games, Metroidvanias, third-person adventure games that are cross-platform/console released (ie Assassin's Creed Origins) where you spend much of your focus on movement and melee etc... are at times best suited to controllers.

There are some exceptions to this and it all comes down to comfort level; some really enjoy playing FPS on controllers (a la Halo or Destiny) and can become proficient upon it. In addition, the particular controller can sometimes affect things differently, such as the really exceptional features/power of the Steam Controller which can, through both its hardware and software config, make games tha normally would not be playable except via KB/M, playable well even on that particular controller.

If you have any specific genres or game types, feel free to request. Likewise, if you find you enjoy controller use and are interested in seeing what's out there for more comfortable or performance-focused hardware, just let me know!
