Bought this game a week ago during Steam sale. Wanted to play it the other day so I launch it except it doesn't launch at all. I spent several hours reading up on the internet how to fix it but I'm unable to launch the damn game.

Anyone know how to make it work?

I emailed steam saying I want a refund but they haven't emailed me back.

Check your antivirus and see if it's not blocking it. Had this issue with the AV silently blocking after i bought the DLC.

Does the game just not intialize, or does the mknd.exe process run?

"Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Has Stopped Working."

That's the error I get when I try to launch the game.

Running SLI? Remember reading somewhere at some point it didn't like it for some people.

Worth a shot I guess. Don't know what else to try. :(

Are you running this in DX12? What kind of GPU are you running? I had this issue when I switched to Windows 10 and tried to run in DX12. I can tell you how to fix it if so, but I'll need more info on your system specs.

Ending up getting a full refund from Steam.

What's really weird is that I tried launching the game at least a dozen times but it never launched so I never even played the game BUT it says that I played for 53 minutes....weird huh?

At least it wasn't over two hours (Steam doesn't refund games if you played over two hours).

If you have an nVidia card and were trying to run it in DX12, there are 2 settings in the driver settings you need to change, otherwise it would never launch. I'm wondering if that was it.

I never had an issue with DX12 on my PC.

I have a GTX 980 Ti. Any DX12 title I play, I have to go in and set these two settings off, or the game won't start. I even went as far as clean installing the OS chasing this problem.

Optimize for compute performance
Shader cache

Maybe just a Maxwell issue.

I've had a 980TI when I played this game, no issues at all.

Also have you tried verifying file integrity? That's often the issue with steam games. I can't count on one hand how many times I had to do that with various games.
