9To5Mac says Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the 2018 iPhones are going to come in three flavors and will also have a larger variety of colors. Besides the additional colors that will be offered we'll see the entry-level iPhone come with an LCD screen and lots of X features, an upgraded iPhone X, and a new iPhone X Plus. Will this help drive iPhone sales for Apple? Mr. Kuo thinks so and predicts this will result in significant growth year-over-year for Apple. I'm not sold on the color range selling more phones as I am with the new entry-level phone driving sales. We'll see soon enough.

To recap, we are expecting three new iPhones to launch in the fall; a spec-bump upgrade to the 5.8-inch iPhone X, a new 6.5-inch OLED ‘iPhone X Plus’, and a slim-bezel 6.1-inch LCD iPhone with Face ID. The LCD iPhone will hit ~$700 price points by skimping on some premium features (no stainless steel frame, no dual-camera, maybe no 3D Touch) but retain the main design elements of the iPhone X line. The 6.5-inch iPhone X will seemingly take the $999 price point, which means we should expect the 5.8-inch iPhone X to become $100 cheaper in a couple of months.

Anybody remember the Mac Grape Cherry Orange units and how quickly that fad died out?

Isn't that when Steve Jobs was brought on board to save the company from itself and it's "Just make the speakers quieter to prevent hard drive malfunction" period...

Now that I think about it, bad keys on the latest Mac keyboards seems to be history repeating itself.

^Doesn't matter.
People like colours...and those who don't use cases ARE MUTANT LIZARDMEN AND SHOULD ALL BE CULLED

So the 'entry-level'...is this another iPhone 5C farce I wonder?

I though those were one of the first things he designed when he returned to Apple. They were garbage computers. Had a few in my graphics class. Idk why we even got them when everyone had a G4 tower Mac. They were also shit tho. At least back then they were somewhat easy to upgrade unlike today's Macs.

what's the point of having phone colours when everyone i know uses phone cases....
Every hear of Clear case ?????????????
I want my headphone jack back and a bigger battery 6000mha or better

Lower cost phones will sell more. Of course, I know people that are broke that have "high end" phones - I've been told they can't live without them. Umm. You can live without a phone. People have done it for a long time...
I find cell phones boring. They reached peak several years ago. I think we will just see incremental improvements from manufactures - what else are they doing to do with them?
I would like to see 2 day battery life and better call quality (realize this is probably more the network than the phone). Nah, I get raspberry orange instead.

The blue (if real) looks very interesting. These rumors (outside of the colors) have been around a few months now, so it's good to see that they still check out. I also don't use cases because I just get a new phone every year.

since many phones are a bit of a status symbol to some, why not even more colors?

Clear cases are only marginally less useless than no case. They protect from minor scrapes and that is really about it. Acrylic isn't a good shock absorber. I mean I get it, if you have so much money that you can value "Fashion" over breaking a $1000 phone..whatever more power to you.

Isn't that the category most iPhone users fall in? :p

Apple should be focused on making the base model phone as good as they can for the price, as that's typically what most people buy.

Yeah, I'd pretty much have no problem living without a cell phone. I really only use 2 or 3 Apps (scientific calculator, alarm clock and a call blocking app). Mostly, I have the phone for roadside emergency purposes and calling the wifey (when doing errands for her).

Two day battery life? I charge my phone about every other week but I do turn it off when I get home from work (yes, we still have a land line). I also don't use it for internet access since the computer (at work) I'm developing on has internet and my home computers have internet. I'd much rather peruse the web on large monitors than on a 4.7 inch screen.

Pretty colors... that's supposed to entice me to drop another $700, $800 or more on an ever-so-slightly upgraded iPhone?

I may be interested in one if it has a home button and not the stupid face ID. I got a Pixel 2 XL when the 6S was getting long in the tooth, what a fucking mistake. Two months in and the phone is screwing up constantly, GPS fails to work, bluetooth barely functions, the screen sucks and it locks up completely at least once a day. I never had a single problem with my iphone in 3 years except one update they pushed that made it have to reboot.

At least having a variety of colors is somewhat interesting in terms of style. I'm tired of all the style talk when it comes to phones where the "style" often comes down to removing already black bezels, notches, and camera placement.

It sounds like you got a bad phone, which can happen with any electronic device, even the magical iPhone. If it's really only been two months, you should be able to exchange it under the Pixel 2's two-year warranty.

I loved the iPhone X, but it was too small so I sold it. A iPhone X Plus definitely sounds intriguing, but i'm going to call it right now that that phone will be $1,200. Fuck that shit. I wasn't happy about paying $1,000 for the X and I never will again. I am perfectly happy with my iPhone 7 Plus and don't see myself upgrading any time soon.

I've had many android phones and they've all had the issues. I dislike apple immensely but everyone I know has an iphone with no issues, while a top of the line android phone again has all sorts of stupid problems that a $1000 phone shouldn't have. I didn't really want the 8 or the X because of the all glass frame but I should have just gotten the damn 8.

I've had several android phones (not "many" - I'm not a chronic upgrader) and have only occasionally had issues that were due either to battery age or installed software. You may be doing it wrong.

Yeah, blame the user. Thats the typical fanboy way. I have literally nothing on it that didn't come with the phone. I don't play stupid games, I don't watch movies, I literally only use it as a phone and an online reader. If it can't work out of the box that isn't my goddamn problem.

Okay, sorry you're having so much trouble with a phone considered one of the best on the market. But seriously, take advantage of the warranty because if your reporting is accurate it really does seem like you have dud hardware. If you don't, then you really are entirely to blame for your bad experience.

Oh, and you can stuff that "fanboy" nonsense. I'm entirely in favor of everyone buying whatever works best for them. I'm an Android user because it works great for me, and it has for a long time. Other people prefer IOS because it works great for them, and I'm glad it does. Each operating system is better for the other being competitive.

I still have my Orange iMac - one of my favorite computers from an industrial design standpoint. I'd love an Orange laptop, iPad - or heck even iPhone. Colors are cool; it's too bad they faded out as metal cases took over for plastic. No one knows more about coloring metal than Apple, and there's always demand for colored devices so this doesn't surprise me. If anything I'm surprised it took them this long to offer colors again. They either had some serious production at scale issues, or logistical issues with juggling SKUs - or both. I hope it's true, an Orange phone would be awesome. I just hope they can make it as grippy as my black iPhone 7+ - the finish on that thing is amazing; the first time I have felt comfortable running the phone without a case.

I doubt they expect most users to upgrade last year's model for this year's model, but I could see that the did some reasearch, and found that if they offered the iPhone in several different colors, it would attract some small fraction of buyers who might otherwise go with Android.

Yes, thing is.. for those that actually had "many" Android phones it gets hard to believe what you say. Between me and my wife we had... I lost count at 6 from kitkat 4.4.. only one had mayor hardware issues, it was a cheap LG .. most worked just fine software and hardware.. many ended being cheap tablets for the kids... the rest reclycled ..Most of the changes been due to upgrades, execept that shit LG.
Yes ive seen iPhone users have problems, and get shit service ( i was genuinely surprised at that, unless i was lied to, but i doubt it).

An upgraded iPhone X? So... there's going to be [at least] two different models of "iPhone X"? MacOS has been stuck on "X" for almost twenty years, now the iPhone is going to be stuck there too.
