Bitcoin Miners Taken Out in Sichuan Floods

Looking through the thread, appears to be photoshopped or at the least exaggerated. This Meltzer guy looks like a tool as well.

Um. If it's bitcoin it wasn't gpu's....

Edit... I see the gpus up front but most of it looks to be Asics..

Good. I hate miners and welcome any distress they experience because they are preventing me from playing my video games faster at a price I want to pay.

Some pundits are speculating this will help eat up NVidia's last-gen GPU overstock, which might hasten their release of their next-gen GPUs.

So right now, it looks like bitcoin miners having their mining facilities destroyed by natural disasters is a good thing.

This might actually be a BAD thing for gamers. Demand will go back up as miners will try to replace lost TFLOPS

Depends on what they were mining though.

I can disagree with the "business" but being wiped out like that is every business owner's nightmare.

Sad thing is most of that equipment could have been saved if it had been promptly rinsed with clean water and dried. Sitting for several days full of water, mud and probably many interesting chemicals will kill much of it. Won't stop it from showing up on sale sites. Kinda like many of the 'Bargain Dealer Liquidation' car sales that pop up after hurricanes.

RMA the cards :D
if it's a business i think it's unsured against these sort of things

One one had I am sorry to see the damage done to good GPUs. On the other hand: fuck the miners.

<3 you too, cupcake.

For the record, in that pic, i see mostly Antminers. Yes, there are Vega GPUs in the foreground and spotted throughout the pack in their cases.. but those are mostly all ASICs.

On ipad, saw thread title.

Bitcoin Miners Taken Out......

Really hoped the next two words were.

And Shot.

This thread fails to deliver.

The heads of bitcoin 1080ti miners.

If it makes you feel better I turned my 1080ti's off when I left for vacation. They are getting a much needed break for the week :)

Fuck... Don't steal them please!

Will give you a pass.

You did atleast try to save the planet, however useless it may of been.

I think it was about two years ago?
This farmer somewhere in Pakistan was "annoyed" because after "expanding" his field (read: because why not, empty forest, so go for it), some tiger having its lair there got aggressive! The nerve of that fucking animal!
As you can guess, that tiger was eventualy shot. If memory serves well, he got some of his hillbilly ignorant peasant buddies along and went and got it.
It's one of those things that really.. no words for it. Want him in my basement, me and him, time and no space.

Was thinking of a different rural area (if the picture is anything to go by) where all of a sudden mining rigs are flushing down all over the place.
For nothing. Nothing at all. Just greed and stupidity.

Anyway, that's what i was reminded of, reading the OP. Hardly equal, but, you know.

More circle jerky hate on cryptocurrency, especially bad this time using the "GPU" excuses (Bitcoin doesn't use GPU to mine any longer with any sort of efficiency).

After weeks of depressing news, this put a smile on my face that even my wife will be wondering about thru the night.

Nope,
I hate miners and welcome any distress they experience, because they're selfish pricks giving zero fucks about sustainability.

That's like looking at "humanity" as pretty much a generic term for "life on earth".
As pre: Yes, Kyle. But Bitcoin is considered the gold-standard of crypto. The market, so far, has followed this ebb and flow. It will break at some point. This is where people will have to use their brains. Whats next?
As far as the above "babble-heads"? Fuck off! Crypto isn't going anywhere. Stop whining and adjust.
If it wasn't for dGPU prices, the majority would be glad to carry on as usual living in an imaginary gaming world. But Ooopsies, price spike! Wonder why?
Nope, back to my baby games ;)

Um insurance? Smart enough to build an operation like that but too dumb to spend 20 minutes buying an insurance policy?

At least Bitcoin miners are doing something productive with their GPUs....gamers not so much :)
Oh yeah? And what is the product of mining cryptocurrency? NOTHING AT ALL.

The value of gaming is entertainment, which was recognized even by the Roman empire thousands of years ago. Yet you still fail to grasp the importance of it.

Looking at the jungle background... do these mining rigs belong to the richer citizens? or belong to the poor farmers who have been saving a lifetime for mining? I don't know if I should feel bad to the poor Chinese.

Just because there is jungle-type shrubbery in the background doesn't mean they're poor.
