I buy EVGA GPU's exclusively because they allow warranty transfer and the quality is good (10 series anyways) but ... as mining cards start getting returned for repair well, EVGA sends out a replacement which means you get someone else's card that has been repaired.

So how will we know if the replacement was used in mining or not? EVGA tech rep said they can see the # of hours the card was run for ... is this true?

They test the refurb cards to work as well as a new one. It doesn’t matter if someone mined on the card for 24 months in hell. If it passes their tests (after repair) it’s as good as any other card.

then why did they remove the Guest RMA page? A rep said it was to help screen out the mining cards. Or was he full of BS?

Better than some companies mining on cards and selling those as new...

Just be glad they fix it and send you one back. If you are really that worried about it take the card they send back and sell it and buy brand new.

I just went to the EVGA GPU warranty page and decided for the first time ever, to read all the warranty and came across this following tidbit:

What is not covered by this Limited Warranty

Any damages to the components, hardware and/or assembly of the Products including but not limited to damages caused as a result of neglect, abuse, accidents, misuse or UNUSUAL PHYSICAL, ELECTRICAL OR ELECTROMECHANICAL STRESS (including due to UNINTERUPTED use of the Products, or use of the Products for BLOCKCHAIN PROCESSING, CRYPTOCURRENCY MINING, or similar purposes).

Fascinating ...

If EVGA can see power on hours, then all of mine will look like mining cards since I don't turn off my PC's.

Hopefully someone can chime in on this. There are times I leave my pc on 24/7 also.

EVGA is on my shit list.
Removed warranty check, declines warranty service for unrelated cosmetic damage, etc.

then maybe consider organizing a class action law suite? I've seen complaints (with photos) online how EVGA rejects cards for warranty repair if the SLI bridge gold fingers have wear on them (which has absolutely nothing to do with warranty except for the fact they don't return YOUR property - they send you someone else's repaired card. So if there's cosmetic stuff they reject it because they won't fix YOUR PROPERTY and then return it to you and therefore won't turn such cards around and out the door.

Small wonder why more and more people are taking the law into their own hands. I'm not advocating this ... just pointing it out because it's becoming more and more prevalent today. Piss off the wrong gamer (many are already nutty enough :cautious:) and no telling what will happen. Safe way is to be honest, treat people well and don't always put profits first at the expense of quality or compassion
