Facebook has applied for a patent for some unique software that detects the emotion displayed of an input photo or photos and then gives you a mask to reflect the emotion of the plurality of the photos. The patent says a user of the social network can select a mask that reflects how they're feeling and use it to exaggerate their emotions. Further, the patent is pretty in-depth and I'd recommend you read the whole thing to get a feel for how it works. Interesting to say the least.

n one embodiment, a method includes identifying an emotion associated with an identified first object in one or more input images, selecting, based on the emotion, a mask from a set of masks, where the mask specifies one or more mask effects, and for each of the input images, applying the mask to the input image.

This is a patent application, not an issued patent. It was filed in December, 2016, and the application was published yesterday. The application is currently under final rejection at the USPTO.
