First and foremost I would like to BLAME Jeremy Hellstrom of PCPer for even bringing this to our attention. The Tech Report has a review of the KnewKey Rymek retro mechanical keyboard. I think they cropped all their pictures nicely so we would not see the vinyl LP playing in the background. It seems however it is pretty awesome except for missing keys, the volume knob not always working (the one on my IBM Selectric does not work either), and odd shaped keys that make it difficult to type. However outside of that, if you $100 to burn, and like things that suck, go for it. We get to see it in action over at Youtube.

Check out the video.

The Rymek is a sturdy piece of hardware that strikes a balance between usability and style.

Niche product for those who like reliving the past in a modern world. Impractical for my uses.

Take the faux typewriter shit off of there and it's not a terrible looking KB.

It reminds me of a "steampunk" one I used once, that thing was a beautiful keyboard to use with top quality parts and construction. I think that thing was $500+ though, so you know... NO.

But,...but,...but,...it has lighting effects!!!

Now that I have pushed the vomit back down,.....dayum,...what a piece of shizz!

No Naked Lunch edition? No Sale.

Doesn't one of these retro-steampunk-hi tech keyboards get kickstarted every couple of years?

That's actually kind of cool. Looks better than most RGB keyboards on the market.

Yeah, 75% is my favorite form-factor, but it's not widely popular. Too much redesign for most companies to bother with I guess.

I don't understand the LED lights on that thing! Why would they put light on it... it ruins the retro look completely.

1:55 I wonder what that reminds me of, I'm sure I've seen something like that before.... Anyway, this thing is for the special crowed that not only want to be seen working in starbucks on their screen plays now but have a cacophony of tap-clicking all day too.

What a piece of shit. The back support almost breaks off at the weight of a tablet. It looks to be made out of the cheapest plastic. It's huge, but still impractical and uncomfortable.
But the hipsters are already buzzing aroound it like crazed rats. Just look at the comments under the video.

W......T......F

But it has frag harder disco lights I guesss......

Pure HIPSTER fodder.........
Now they can pretend they are Johnny news hawk banging out a block buster scoop for the 6:00 edition.

But really no dumber than those jelly roll up keyboards of those flashing light disco keyboards.

Gonna order a case off them from China and sell them at Starbucks'.
You should order a full pallet's worth. Just hit all of the local Starbucks in your area and you should have no problem selling out.

Note: I have never actually been to a Starbucks before (I don't drink coffee), but I heard that it is for hipsters what a donut shop is for cops.
