Steam summer sale June 21st

Member when steam sales meant 65-75- or even 85% off ? Now they're throwing things like 25-30% in my face. And I just laugh and walk away.

Mass Effect 2 went down to $5 within a year of its release. Obviously the DLC was always expensive, but during those few years that was fairly normal. A game would hit $5 in around a year. Add all DLC and it would be $7.50, maybe even $5 a year and a half later. Obviously it wasn't sustainable, but those were some good times.

Now it is more like $15 after the first year if the game was popular.

I might pickup Insurgency Sandstorm pre-order, and want to pre-order Ready or Not but that is not up yet. Same with Ace Combat 7: Release Date Unknown.

Rest of the sale is meh to me.

Some cheap suggestions: Just Cause 3 XL Edition & Mad Max at $5 each.

The industry really has adjusted a lot since the relatively earlier days of digital distribution and these sales.

For a companions -

The Witcher 2 Steam Summer Sale 2014 3 years after release - $3.99

The Witcher 3 Steam Summer Sale 2018 3 years after release - $19.99

We are not seeing the same discounts or at the same rate as in the past.

You're not seeing he e same discounts because Witcher 2 was very divided on how good it was, compared to the first game. Witcher 3 had a much better reception, and there's a more content in it compared to two.

first steam sale in years that i've bought anything, and it's only because i happened to see the game (i'm sure it's been this cheap or cheaper before). i picked up STALKER Clear Sky for $2.99. It's the only game in the series i didn't own on steam and now i won't have to find the discs to install it. it's worth $2.99 just to see the complete series in my game library

I picked up ME2 for €8 2 months after it's release. And in retail!

Now popular games won't even get under 20 for years. GTAV is still €20 after over 3 years. Witcher 3 goty also €20.
And Steam is still sticking to it's miserable wretched policy of $1 = €1 further gouging europeans. So it's simply not worth it for me to buy anything on steam, not even during these sales. Steam sale prices nowadays hardly match the prices I can get from sites like cdkeys all year long.

I think Just Cause is a miserably bad game. And I already have Mad Max.

You must get cheap retail. Not that many stores still sell many retail PC games here anymore. Half the games bought in stores are cards with CD keys to activate on Steam or Origin. Prices are set by the developers and not Valve, so if you don't like the currency conversion take it up with the devs/publishers. I know some of the smaller studios actually do adjust it but those tend to be cheaper MP games. Good luck getting a AAA game to do that. Though at the end of the day, prices tend to be set relative to local spending power hence why they're so pricey in Australia. I know some less well off European countries are lumped in with Germany's pricing though, lol.

Well, ME2 did come out 8 years ago. This kind of discount doesn't happen anymore. Most retail stores have closed, and the ones that are left are busy with price gouging as well. So I haven't bought anything retail for over 3 years. At least for PC. GTAV was the last game I got retail. Since then only digital. And not because I prefer digital, I'd very much prefer owning some physical memento of the games that I like. But not for a 25-30% premium.

so is the $29.99 price for Assassin's Creed: Origins the lowest it's going to get during the current sale or does it have a chance of going lower?...I forget how it works nowadays without the Flash sales etc...do all the games go on Sale immediately on Day 1 or do they continue to add games as the sale goes on?

That is the lowest it is going to go. All to games go on sale day 1 and stay that price until the sale is over.

That is not true. Developers may run their own flash sale during the two weeks. Ubisoft did this last time (or the time before that) where they had a big discount in the middle of the sale. Put all your games on the wish list and check back each day. If it is the final day of the sale and the price has not gone lower, buy it.

I am getting sick of steam store freezing the client (can still access game library at least). At minimum 3 times a day now since the sale started.

Has anyone played the PC version of Fable I always wanted to play the game on the X-BOX the art style looks cool not sure of the gameplay.
I watched a few reviews on youtube but still undecided or weather the game just feels dated today. I guess a Fable 4 is rumored to be in the works but it's a big rumor at that.

It's ok but dated.

Man I hate the way this is run. I loved it when the sales changed every day. It was more fun and gave it more of an event thing. Now its just meh.

Almost like gambling, and that made it fun.

Witcher 2 88% metacritic, 8.5 user metacritic, 4.5 steam. Witcher 3 93% metacritic, 9.3 use metacritic, 5 steam. A difference? Sure.Should it explain that big of a difference?

Regardless the Wticher is just one example. If we want to go with something else Batman Arkham Knight was clearly received worse than it's predecessors (due to the point of being heavily panned on the PC due launch issues) yet dropped much slower and at a lower rate.

If you look at the overall trend everyone is dropping prices slower and not to as low levels. The 1 year price point back then is now the 2 year price point if it even gets there in 2 years. 2 years is now 4 years.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this as well but complete editions (eg. GOTY) are also being leveraged now to "reset" the price timer. Waiting for the complete edition isn't necessarily cheaper anymore unless you give them time to age and drop in price.

So many people have been conditioned now that steam sale equals a hot deal. But did people really think the business side of games would not eventually realize how much potential money they were leaving on the table by dropping prices so fast? I even remember I think some EA executive saying something about this (that the industry was being too aggressive in sales) and that they needed to make adjustments. Turns out he knew better than the internet critics.

Bought West of Loathing and more or less played that all weekend. I should get around to getting Dishonored 2, and I think call it quits.

Feel free to send me all your cards. ;)

25 is well worth it for Nukaworld and Farharbor combined.. more so with the extra wizzbang jangles.

Not really when the goty version is $30. Sell it for $15 and I'd likely buy despite not being a huge FO4 fan.

I noticed GTA V is on sale for $20. Is the bundle with the criminal starter pack worth an extra $13? Mainly interested in single player, but wouldn't mind trying out the online play.

You sure have a problem and to not be taken as the normal. I enjoyed both games very much so and proabably put only 200 hours in to both at most. I don't know how some you people able to put this many hours into a single offline game.

then [H]Forum member X comes along and says "200 hours! man some of you have no life. i loved both games and only put 50 hours into them."
then [H]Forum member Y comes along...

The vanilla version of the game was $20 on Uplay last week. Worth a glance to see if that's still going on. The normal game is so huge I don't even want to think about DLC.

it's showing as $59.99 now...$20 would have been an ideal price (with the extra 20% off Uplay points coupon it would have been $16)...

Thanks for the replies! Glad I waitid till these dropped in price. Pc gaming prices can't be beat

I am, I haven't touched MGSV since 2016 and I been trying to play Witcher 3 to do the "Blood and Wine" expansion but I'm not quite there yet because it's hard to replay the game after I played it so much. lol

Bought Civ VI and it is dloading now. Hope I didn't make a mistake. Some love it some hate it but reviews are all very good so I take a chance on it.

Does anyone have dbz fighter z I got it on sale? I tried playing it but got my but whooped. It seems really hard to do anything and I just keep getting hit and juggled till I'm dead...debating whether to return it or not...
