Cyberpunk 2077: Official Thread

I admit, I did forget about that. I think the downgrade was probably necessary since they have a habit of being like Crysis/Metro/Tomb Raider in making games that even the best GPU's will struggle for generations to handle at max settings. I think it was like 3 gens of NV before I could use 'uber' in Witcher 2 @ 1080p. In 4k that can still pull down my 1080ti a couple of notches LOL! Still can't use MSAAx4 in Metro's @4k on any of my rigs w/o the slideshow effect.

Ultimately, sure I want my eye candy, but the story/gameplay is where they tend to shine the most. As long as the quality carries thru I feel confident it will be another huge success. Hoping, fingers crossed.

Check out this edited trailer that someone put together. Witcher 3 spoilers if you haven't played the game.

Blade Runner posted this a couple pages back, still a good video though.

Makes me wonder if we'll see anything like this:

I'm not saying the Witcher 3 turned out to be a bad game or that this will but I think some people are forgetting that the Witcher 3 did have a graphical down grade controversy compared to E3 and etc. demos even though those were in game as well.

Especially if the demo machine truly required a 8700k there may need to be some eventual compromises to get the game running on the current consoles as that aspect tends to not scale as well.

This. Pretty much most games that could not be maxed out for their time had performance issues. Crysis still struggles on my PC, I can't keep a stable 60 FPS but I can in newer, more modern games that look better. Witcher 2 also has its minor quirks performance wise. I assume it is hard to optimize for hardware that does not yet exist.

welp the W3 open world was just too massive for the type of lighting they displayed in the demo. they made a mistake and I think they learned from it. I believe that what they showed will be realistic for release, at least for PC.

as for ciri in an easter egg, that's fine, but I don't think it is necessary. this game will be able to stand on its own.

I don't think anyone is going to hold off buying because of a Ciri cameo. Still though, that sort of thing is a nice touch. You used to see this sort of thing a lot in Sierra Adventure games, and it was always cool to see. Not even necessarily easter eggs, but just a little nod to their other games or characters. Or like when the Kilrathi ship was sitting in a corn field in Ultima 7 and the music from Wing Commander played. It's just cool and fun. Necessary? No. Fun? Yes. In no way is the success of Cyberpunk hinging on this, but if you're a fan of their games, then it's nice. I don't think anyone would expect it to be a large part of the game, or something they were relying on to sell it. Just a similar little nod, based on some of the dialog mentioned previously.

Much like Deus Ex 1 to MD, I'll be going as stealthy as possible with max hacking capabilities. Looking forward to CP2077 so much... Preordering it the moment they allow it for sure.

She literally described visiting the Cyberpunk 2077 universe while chatting with Geralt. Not only is it an Easter egg but it's plausible for her to be there in the first place due to the elder blood powers.

I just read that the developer said he's completely against crossing universes like this, and she likely will not be in the game. He said "This isn't Kingdom Hearts" :D

CD Projeckt Red is more than one person... The Game director is the person you quoted but the co-founder and joint CEO said this to him in the same interview “Maybe you will change your mind,” and “There is a little hope there.”

Yeah, I read that part. I'm fairly impartial, but I think at least a small nod would be appropriate. It's not like you have to run some mission with her or something.

Can't wait to play as Geralt. I'm sure they'll be a mod to customize your character to look like him. Maybe RP with a story about Geralt getting bored or drunk and messing around with Triss's Megascope & it malfunctions & transports him to this world :D

Same, I think I'll be holding off upgrades until this comes out, will be a good one!

I don’t usually upgrade just for a game. I will be for this.

Last time was Doom 3. I got whatever the best overclocking Athlon64 was at the time, might have been an X2 but can’t remember. Then swapped out my newly acquired X800 for a pair of 6800GTs also overclocked. I started playing on the X800 and it was ok, but those two 6800s made that game fly.

Same, I think I was running a G4 Ti4200 at the time. Had to play it in 800x600 but it was still bad ass! My room mate had a more powerful computer so I played it on his often.

Same, I was this close to being satisfied with what I have, this close! Thanks CD Project Red  but really, thanks :D

That E3 trailer was awesome, shows quite a bit about the game world. But I am not sold on the first person perspective. It might be immersive, but for RPGs its counter intuitive as you spend hours customizing your character and you don't get to see any of that in the game. I hope CDPR decides to put an option for both first person and third person.

Doubtful. With a third person perspective, you have to put a LOT more thought about camera angles, since clipping is a much larger problem then in a first person perspective. That's why most third person perspective titles tend to have indoor areas with very high ceilings, for example.

If they wanted to add a third person perspective, they'd have to literally throw out upwards of 50% of their assets. It's not happening.

Just a reference is fine. Something like some guy who died in a back alley with an arm cut off or something. Maybe throw in a voice line of "who uses a sword in this day and age?" or something to drive the point home.

You know what I just figured out? Today is the EXACT day 5 years ago when the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer dropped.

I just Googled development time for Witcher 3 and that was three and a half years of development. CD Projekt Red said that the Cyberpunk 2077 World is "far far larger" than the Witcher 3. So if hypothetically we were at Witcher 3-level of development/progress a year and a half ago then we could very well see something this year about the game.

Called it didn't I? lol

Looks promising, hope it's not too casual. Seems like CD Projekt's take on Deus Ex (more likely the 1st one). I don't see anything very unique, but CD knows how to make enjoyable games.

I wonder what time.

It happened at 9:17AM Eastern. It was a interview with one of the developers and completely lackluster. At the end, they did indicate there is a session tomorrow which I am to assume is another closed doors as a followup question was "When will the public see game play" and the answer was along the lines "I hope soon, but I can't answer that"
