Hot damn, just had a sweet T3 map! Got an exalt, four six socketed items, and five uniques, including a Bronn's Lithe. Six socketed the Bronn's Lithe after 25 Jeweler's Orbs.

Ahh, nice. I remember them dropping in open beta, but really never considered them worthwhile. I guess I'm from the carcass jack era, lol

This league is certainly a loot pinata. Upon exiting a fully cleared incursion you are met with a literal shower of items.

Also have you all been getting Mayhem like event spawns? I'm talking a combination of 3 or 4 from Breach+abyss+essences+Master+Lab trials on most maps on top of the guaranteed incursion. It feels really good as there is always something to do in a map and is a much welcome change from the old mindless clear speed meta.

And every 11 runs you get a Temple which is another loot shower. I came in to the league expecting a reskinned Breach but this is just as good if not better. Another side effect of the abundant loot is items are super cheap and with properly crafted temples you can be swimming in currency. The difference from "Stupid Beasts" league is night and day.

Yea Incursions have been fun! I am quite a bit confused on what you're exactly meant to be doing within. I am changing rooms but for what? I hope i'm not ruining my character through all this trial and error. I do notice that there are a limited number of incursions...

Ahh this helps! lol thanks

You get 11 (I think) shots at upgrading and connecting rooms within the temple. After that, Alva figures out the location of the temple in modern times and takes you there to raid it. You enter in the bottom center room, then can move on to all of the rooms you have connected to it.

You get a set of 6 single-use portals like for a map. Once you complete your run of the temple, you start all over again. The next time you see Alva, you'll start over upgrading and connecting rooms within a new temple.

From what I've gathered so far, the level of the temple seems to be the average of the levels of the Incursions (which are at the level of the area you entered from). So start hitting up those Incursions right away as you'll probably rake in some good leveling loot.

Yeah, on launch night I didn't have sound for the first couple of hours and I didn't read the intro, so I spent the first bunch of incursions just trying to kill fast and hearing Towelie's voice in my head:

Once I figured it out though it became really fun. The tier 2 and tier 3 rooms drop A LOT of loot, and not just rares but entire chests full of +% quality gems, currency, etc., and the Architect drops a guaranteed unique. The corruption altars also give some really nice opportunities - the tier 3 corruption altar allows you to sacrifice a unique for a unique of the same type and includes league-only uniques (I believe someone got a Headhunter on day 1 or 2). Really no question of whether this league mechanic is "worth it to do."

Can be pretty rippy though. Usually I have a league starter and move on to other builds; this is the first league in a while where I've lost multiple characters in a short span and basically had nothing left in the stable. Building a max block reflect Gladiator right now, and Mathil's double strike build looks really good too so might try that as well.

Pro tip, if you want to see what the next incursion is going to be after you encounter Alva in a map follow these steps:

- Talk to Alva and click "View Temple"

- Click the "Enter incursion" button at the top right window that shows the layout of the room

- Do not enter the Incursion right away, instead make a town portal and go to town

- Go back in and click on Alva and select "View Temple" again

- The next Incursion will be shown on the top right window

It does waste a map portal but that's no real big loss.

Really liking this incursion mechanic. Probably my favorite league so far, 2nd being harbinger. It does get a little repetitive though because after doing it for the 100th time you seen the same rooms, but they are quick to complete and the rewards are good enough to keep doing them. Hopefully if they add this to the base game they expand on the tile sets to keep it fresh or something.

Currently playing a skeleton necromancer and it has been great. Kinda reminds me of the Diablo 2 Necromancer days. Breezing through maps but the progress has been slow due to bad map drops. I get plenty of them but not the tiers I want lol. Also my loot rewards have been terrible. No exalt orbs and every rare is vendor trash. Oh well, thats the way the game goes sometimes.

Hope the drops pick up because I really would like to try a few other builds but need the exalts. Chaos > exalt orb ratio is crazy right now.

My witch elementalist in Incursion is L94 atm, chose this class randomly before I knew it would be one of the more popular ones. 6 Linked my inpulsa chest today in 887 fusings.

Incursion is the first league in a long time that didn't feel completely sub-par to Breach, which is considered by many the best league ever released in the history of the game. GGG hit a home-run with this league, many players are already asking them to ensure it makes it into the base game. With my long backlog though I'm playing casually these days.

Yep, having a blast with this myself. Just started last night, but I put a good 7 hours in today.

The temple mechanic itself isn't too shabby, but you have to be careful, because you can lock yourself out of the omnitect. Other than that, it's quick and fairly painless, as it doesn't retract from the map experience. You're in and out and done in under 30 seconds..

Messing with rain of arrows has also been very fun. Haven't messed with it since open beta.. Vaal version feels smooth..

Yeah, the reddit thread title involved something about 'sexually identifying as an attack helicopter'.. A Joe Duncan comic immediately ensued.

Grinding Gear Games support is being a real pain in the ass for me right now. I was a closed beta backer in 2012 buying one of their credit packs (which I used on stash tabs obviously) but I haven't played since 2013 or so. I can log in to my account, look at my characters, their inventory, my stash, etc. I was able to purchase a $20 "First Blood Pack" on my account early this morning and used some of the 200 credits it came with to purchase a premium currency tab. Well guess what? I can't actually play the game because my account is "locked" or whatever. It wants me to answer some verification email it's sending to my old @netscape.net account that no longer exists because the domain is gone. All those old email accounts were moved over to @aim.com addresses and there is no forwarding.

Well what do you know, the account manager has the ability to change the email address associated with your account!:) I put in my new gmail and hit Submit and... it's still trying to send an email to Netscape so nothing happens.o_O I contacted support and explained the whole thing and they refuse to help without providing the credit card number or Paypal information I used in 2012. As in the $20 USD I just gave them literally counts for squat so I'll have to dispute the charge with Paypal if I can't escalate the issue and get it resolved.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately we will need this older payment information to be able to process this further. You may need to contact your bank or Paypal to obtain this. I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

The Paypal account does not exist anymore. It was a shared account between myself and my mother for Ebay that I closed around 2015 when I created a personal account for myself. I even know the login information for that old Paypal but it doesn't matter because I removed all payment options from it and then deleted it completely. The login address shows as invalid now)..

The credit card number has changed at least once since 2012 I don't have the last four digits of the old card handy. If I need to go through the effort of contacting my bank I may as well take back my money and wash my hands of this company forever. Again, all of this was already explained to the support staff through email and the first person I got to ended with the message above. I have now tried a different support account (their website tech support) and explained everything again so this is their last chance to make good on someone that supported them when they were just a startup.

[Update]
I'm afraid we'll need the requested information before we'll be able to process your request. Please note, if you've used PayPal in the past we will not need the credit card number that was used we will instead need the unique transaction ID for your payments. You may need to contact PayPal directly to retrieve this information if the payments were made long ago. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Lots of help this second person is if it indeed is someone else! That old PayPal account was signed up with the same f****** @netscape.net account that no longer exists.

The email is gone, there's no forwarding, and you closed all the accounts related to the purchase and have no way of getting the old info? Sounds more like you created a black hole than support being unreasonable. Perhaps there's a second layer of support that can get involved but it will be tough to simply hand you an account with no way to prove it's yours.

Of course I closed down an old Paypal account that would no longer be used. Why would I leave an avenue for fraud open like that? The credit card numbers have changed for exactly that reason - fraud every 3 or so years when we go on vacation and someone skims the card at a restaurant or whatever. It happens to everybody that travels enough the CC company handles it no problem you get your money back and they issue a new card number.

On GGG's end the only thing that is "shady" about this situation is that I want to change my email address so I can play the game I supported six years ago. It's perfectly normal for an email address to no longer be accessible. It's happened MANY times to me over the years as I've changed ISPs. Everything from AOL to Earthlink to CAIS to Cox to Verizon etc..

Now had I actually done anything whatsoever to indicate fraudulent activity I could totally understand the caution. What did I do wrong other than not play for years? Isn't that like the majority of the kickstarter/beta backers for most early access games? I had absolutely no issues resolving the same problem with Eve Online for the accounts tied to this same old email address. Support staff there was very quick to switch my email address over and I resubbed my accounts for three months to try out the changes.

Support started with:
Also, could you please provide us with the location (City and State) you created your account from?
That was answered.

Then:
So we can look into this further for you, can you please let us know if you have ever made any purchases on the online store? Please also confirm your current IP address. You can find your IP address here: http://www.whatsmyip.org
I told them what I could remember which was that as far as I know the only things I ever purchased in the cash shop was first the credits for stash tabs to enter the closed beta, then a second purchase to expand with more tabs. I gave them my IP address.

Finally the wall is:
Next, would you please let us know the payment details regarding the purchase(s) on your account? In particular, we’ll need to know the following if you’ve used:
  • Credit Card - the final four digits of the card you used
  • Xsolla - the unique Xsolla transaction number
  • PayPal - the unique PayPal transaction ID
  • Steam/Garena -please take a screenshot of your relevant transaction history and attach it to your email
  • Any other method - the exact date and amount of your purchase
At this point I thought okay I don't have access to any of that I need to create a new transaction number with my current Paypal account. I purchased the $20 pack mention in my OP then emailed support back and supplied them with the transaction id number I got from Xsolla (the server provider that handles their Paypal transactions). Support THEN replied back clarifying they could only help me if I had the original transaction ID from 2012!

This sounds like you shouldn't have used a temporary email address to sign up for an online service, you should have used an email account that you know you wouldn't lose access to, such as gmail/yahoo etc (or whatever) with the 2-factor features they have available. Hindsight is 20/20.

PoE is the biggest online-only arpg in the world right now, and there are always scammers trying to hijack accounts for various reasons (even straight from ggg support), in most cases to resell. If you no longer have the emails, the email account, the paypal account, the credit cards, or any proof whatsoever the account is yours, what do you expect ggg to do. There is no way for them to verify that the account is yours.

Let's say you were GGG support, and multiple people had put in "claim account" requests like you did for the exact same account, saying they had none of the information as you do, what would you do?

Honestly it doesn't sound like ggg are at fault here. Just create a new account - PoE now has the ability to create accounts through Steam - so it's protected by steam authentication so this won't happen again.

I think you missed the part where I already have access to the account.. I simply can't use it INGAME. The website doesn't indicate anything is wrong with my account. If I try to login the POE client tells me I need to check my email.

Would someone seriously pay $20 to steal this account? My highest level character is 34.:shy: Well I initiated a dispute with Paypal I'll just take my money back and try to forget all about this game.

Will someone please actually read my post before replying? I CAN LOG IN TO MY ACCOUNT. I KNOW MY PASSWORD They are willing to take more of my money
Yet somehow it's not okay for me to play? How does that make sense to ASSUME I'm a thief simply because my account was inactive for years. Why would their shop still be active, still take my money if they thought I was an imposter? Would you as an individual ever take payment from someone you didn't believe was the proper owner of their respective online identity?

What most likely happened was that your account credentials were either brute forced or compromised, so when multiple IPs around the world were logging into it, it got locked for your benefit. Go to haveibeenpwned (it's a legit site) and enter your gaming account emails/usernames there to see if any were potentially breached in the past few years.

They don't autolock accounts because people didn't log into them in awhile afaik.

Edit: maybe you might get more assistance posting in the subreddit or the forums, I don't think anyone here can help you sadly.

Edit2:

Just create another account, even you admit your old account is worthless.

Have you checked to see if you can pull up a bank statement from that long ago even if the card number was updated? It would have the date, name of the merchant, amount, and reference number (UTR). While it's not an order number, the unique transaction reference number is unique and identical on the merchant's side.

I've been planning to post in this thread for a couple of days....

Basically, I finally managed to put Grim Dawn down (till the new expansion) and this game has REALLY come into its own.

I've been putting around with a marauder and just started Act II; so far, so good.

Are there any links/guides I should immediately be made aware of?

Also, based on my own research, I'm 99% sure another stash sale is this weekend. Would just getting the currency tab & one premium stash tab be sufficient to start?

I think for best bang for buck currency tab + the 6 premium tab pack is the best deal. If you don't want to pay that much for the 6 than you can get the one, but do know if you get 5 more you pay more than the 6 pack/

Thank you sir.

So, I had just portaled out of a dungeon to sell some bs, I was in town (forest encampment) organizing my stash etc, and the portal is now GONE....?

I googled and apparently portals disappear after either 8 or 15 mins depends on where you are at? If so, which is which.... I figure a main "town" like the forest encampment would fall under the 15 min mark?

Thanks for answering my dum-dumb questions

Instances that you create expire after so many minutes, 8-15 minutes usually. That causes the portal to also disappear. To avoid just re-enter the area to reset the timer or find the waypoint so you can easily return. The reason is most likely to maintain server performance by closing instances that are not being used.

When you say "re-enter" do you mean go back through the portal and then use a new scroll?

Once you enter a zone it resets the expiration timer, once all the players in the zone leave the expiration timer begins again. Doesn't have to be via a portal, you can enter via a waypoint or connecting zone.

You can keep any of the regular act zones open permanently just by portaling in and out every few mins or so. When you get to maps (end game) you are limited to 6 portals per map.

I think I'm going to skip Delve league. I'm quite tired of timed encounters, having to make a specific dedicated toon to deal with each league mechanic is getting boring. It does look well planned and implemented so far though.

HeavensCloud
I've got to agree with you.

Movement mechanics in Path of Exile are a bit clumsy. So Ascension challenges, and now Delve don't seem to fit the game engine strengths too well in my opinion.

From what we know so far, the cart will slow down when you're behind and speed up when you're ahead; there will also be some sort of way to upgrade the cart that hasn't been spelled out completely.

I pretty much exclusively make wonky fun builds in this game and found that I didn't have a problem with the Incursion timers - it was more about getting movement speed (Quicksilver flasks + boots) than it was being an ultra-specialized build. What specific kind of build did you find was required for Incursion?

Yeah, once you get reasonably geared, I don't see how you could really have an issue clearing Incursions. I mean, unless you were intentionally only using a boss killing setup or something.

Most common complaint I saw was about getting chaos spiked by vaal constructs, which isn't really surprising considering that chaos res was always deemed to be a "luxury" stat before Incursion. I lost my first character that way in a +damage +multi proj map but it was my own fault since I moved wrong and took two full volleys in a row.

Right now I'm trying out this guy's OBEY THE ORB build for shits and giggles: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2161077 He did it SSF so I figure there's room for improvement and customization. A build using Tempest Shield to activate Orb of Storms? Now we're talkin'.
