Walmart loses nothing on the deal. They send the defective machines back to their supplier for full credit. Their supplier has the choice of eating that cost or losing their contract to supply Walmart. Too big to fail totally applies to Walmart!
Not actually correct. Wallys has contracts where SOME items can be returned for full credit, but that has to do with dead stock and lack of sale. Returns go thru an entirely different system, and while some items are eligible for partial credit, most items go into the stores write-off budget.
The fact remains that Returns is a suck-ass job @ the Service Desk, nobody wants to do it, and after a while you simply stop giving a shit because EVERY asshole has a story, sob or otherwise, 99% of them are full of shit, but they are going to get their money back and if you give them any resistance they are fully willing and capable of putting in the time it takes to give you an ulcer. Eventually you just refund without listening because you don't want to hear it any more.. and it's the fastest way to get them the fuck away from your counter.
