Those with epilepsy or other light-sensitive conditions may have to avoid the long-awaited sequel to The Incredibles, which debuted this week. The movie is “filled with tons of strobe/flashing lights,” which could be dangerous to those who suffer from migraines, vision impairments, seizure conditions, vertigo (specifically flicker vertigo), autism, ADHD, and PTSD. Disney has asked theaters to warn patrons of such scenes, one of which lasts for at least 90 seconds.

So far, no incidents as a result of watching “Incredibles 2” have been reported. In 1997, 685 children were sent to hospitals in Japan after an episode of “Pokemon” flashed red and blue lights to animate a scene in which Pikachu blows up missiles in cyberspace. Nintendo’s stocks took a hit after the incident, which became known in Japan as “Pokemon Shock,” and the show was taken off the air for nearly four months.

Or maybe you can just stop putting this shit in your films? Maybe? This isn't like some recently discovered medical condition. It's been around for some time now. I'm surprised that this type of thing slips though the screening process.

Seems it's not really a problem. Also, if we made movies that conformed to everyone's possible issue there'd be far less. Most action movies wouldn't exist...might trigger someone's PTSD! Just like with having food allergies I feel it's up to the individual to check their own safety on the matter instead of the majority conforming to the minority.

ATTENTION !!! Those prone to motion sickness may want to avoid the roller coaster and if you haven't yet figured out how to eat properly please do not ingest the honey coated peanuts.

it's perhaps likely that those with Epilepsy are not the only concern rather, it's the threat of law suites. It's to the point here in the USA that if you so much as sneeze the wrong way (what's the right way?) someone might sue you.
People in Flint MI saw the tomatoes in their gardens turning black and their dogs and cats suddenly dying but were told by the Officials, "all is well". Those politicians should have been Publicly lynched but instead, CBSN reporters are asking folks on the streets, "Do you think what they [the politicians, etc] did was a crime?" and this was just on the news, just now as I'm typing this on June 17, 2018 ... How stupid can we humans possibly become? Watch, it will get much worse in the months /years to come because:

"Up" has become "down" and "wrong" has become "right" ... this can't continue for long before things completely collapse.

And then there's EA ... oh boy don't get me going on that topic

Those with epilepsy likely know better than to go to big screen movies. Because this warning would apply to every single movie.

10 bonus points for comparing Flint, MI to Electronic Arts. Thumbs up.

What's next, a warning that the consumption of the jumbo sized soft drink/popcorn combo is a threat to both your bank account and heart? At this rate, the commercials + warnings will be longer then the movie.

I have epilepsy and go to big screen movies. I can and will leave a movie if it starts to trigger my seizure. Not all movies can't be seen on the big screen, only like 18% or less.
Of those, most are Action films.

Yeah that was a pretty ignorant comment. I was surprised there wasn't a warning when that scene came on it's the first thing I thought of; "wow I hope some kids don't get a seizure from this". In Japan they still run warnings on kids shows and dim the brightness of scenes that are borderline. I'm glad we don't have the dimming here but a warning would be the safe play for everyone involved and takes less time than the many "don't use your phone" messages before the film anyway :-p

and all bread should be glutenfree because some ppl cant handle it.
Gotta remove all those dairies products as well. BAN them I say. some ppl cant handle dairy products.
Also, let's remove all flowers and trees. some ppl are allergic you know
Alos kill all bees. some peopel are allergitic to them

OR

and this is a really long shoot thing but hear me out.
We can just take it easy and not make everyone have to suffer because a few have a special condition and then educated those ppl to stay away from the products they are not compatible with.

The crazy strobing was sort of central to the plot (villain uses flashing screens to enslave people), but it was pretty impressive how bright it was in the theater. I'm not sure if they followed the generally accepted guidelines on this (no more than 3 flashes per second), I was too busy to count the flashes per second while trying not to be blinded, but still watching what was happening. That there haven't been any reported instances means they may likely have followed guidelines on the flashing sequences, although they clearly ignored the guideline on the length of the sequence. They could have maybe had Samuel L Jackson warn us about the flashing lights while they were apologizing for taking so long to roll out the sequel money machine, though.

I have it so I tend to avoid things like haunted houses, raves, etc. For movies in the theater I haven't been bothered by it (though I havent seen this movie to judge yet). My normal response to a strobe is to close my eyes and/or look away until it stops. I am also not a severe case but it is something I consider when going to events.

Honestly if it really is as often as described, I will avoid it and wait to see it at home. I do agree that a warning before buying tickets is a good idea because it doesnt hurt to inform people.

+1

They should just not put this shit in the movies to begin with. Also, shaky cam should just fucking die in a fire.

Wow this is both so wrong it is funny and correct.

"They should just not put this shit in the movies to begin with." is wrong. It is up to an individual to know what they can watch or not. A warning is fine, but if we remove all instances that harm any single person or group from our every day lives we are left with the blandest, most boring place to live there would be. No Milk, peanuts, everything gluten free. No flavor on anything. No peanut butter, no butter, nothing any good if we follow your advice on this. My God what a horrible world you want us all to live in.

'Also, shaky cam should just fucking die in a fire." is so right. I love nothing more than sitting through 2 hours of video I can't decipher because it is bouncing all over the place (Jason Bourne anyone?)

Not seeing the problem with this....

There was one scene with pretty intense strobe/flashing.
There were some other scenes with less intense flashing light and spinning screen

They warned people it was there, to prepare them.
