ASUS vs MSI Which has better RMA speed/customer service

Just looking for a little feedback here. Trying to decide on a video card. I have heard bad stories for both. Evga is generally the best, but the GTX 1060 I am looking at seems to run fairly hot and loud.

Anyways, between Asus and MSI which would have better RMA and speed if there was ever an issue?

Anyone?

of both I would pick MSI.. ASUS have probably the worse RMA service on the whole industry even if their products are top quality. so based on that only Id say MSI.

I generally pick ASUS products but I'll admit my RMA services with MSI has been a bit better than ASUS.

ASUS there wasn't really anything to complain about. Just slow.

MSI was a bit quicker on responsiveness in messages and a bit quicker on turn-around time.

Don't get me start on Giga-idiots.

I actually contacted MSI support about an X58 motherboard that was having issues with running 2x R9 290 cards in CF. Even though the board had been EOL for ~3 years by that point, they still tried and sent me a beta BIOS to test and see if it resolved the problem. It did not, but the fact that they didn't just blow me off when they certainly could have impressed me. I've bought a lot of their motherboards before and after and never had a bad experience.

ASUS produces some really top notch products, but they couldn't RMA their own asses if handed to them in a paper bag.

MSI without a doubt if customer support is the concern. I do like the Asus Strix / ROG model items, but yeaaaah.

That said I actually would go with an EVGA if that's an option. Probably by far the best customer support out of all the AIB partners.

Thanks for the feedback. That is generally where I was going with my thoughts. Asus does make some good quality stuff, and I was actually debating between the Asus Strix GTX 1060 and Asus Dual OC model cards. I was looking at MSI and Evga as well.

Strangely, and to my disappointment, the Evga SSC model had the highest temps and the loudest fan which surprised me. That was definitely my first pick for customer service and RMAing. The Asus Dual OC model is actually the cheapest GTX 1060 for me and also seems to be the quietest. Figures it would be the one with the worst RMA department.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

I recently tested 3 GTX 1060's together and the MSI gaming X 6gb card cooled the best for sure, but fan was kind of loud when benchmarking. The Evga 6GB SSC had highest temps by like 10C over the MSI and even louder fan at max, but it did have highest FPS by a slight number. The Asus was in the middle for temps but was pretty damn quiet. I didnt even think their cooler was that great but they did it somehow.

Neither ... EVGA ftw.

+1 for EVGA but you'll have to do an Intel build, they don't sell AMD motherboards

only company that really backs their warranty consistently is EVGA (free 24/7 tech support phone line, will reach a tech in <5 minutes) and ... they allow warranty transfer (no other company does that I'm aware of, at least in writing).

I have had great experiences with Asus, MSI, and EVGA. I have read horror stories about all of them. To me though I like EVGA's warranty the most.

Anything is better than Asus. I’ve had to deal with RMAs with them for GPUs and a monitor. I’ve actually never had any major issues with their motherboards though and still buy them anyways. Anything else like a GPU, I always go EVGA or XFX.

For video cards, I will say that all of my NVIDIA purchases have been EVGA (except my Titan XP because they can't sell those). No complaints on their products either.

ASUS left a bad taste in my mouth with their video cards when I bought a 5870 at launch from them and a second for CrossFire a few months later. The second card was sold under the same SKU but was a revised PCB and none of my tools would allow me to adjust voltage. Haven't bought an ASUS video card since.

Eh, I have a number of issues with my EVGA GTX 560ti (s). Had to send two back to Amazon. GTX 1070 I originally bought had artifacts and whatnot. I think the only reason they RMAed is because the EVGA 1070s had cooling issues, much like their GTX 970s. They had a massive recall on their 1070s. To their credit they seemed to take care of it and they did help me out. Now with my EVGA PSU the fan started acting up 14 months later...

Essentially, out of six EVGA products, I had four bad ones. Getting service for my 560tis was such a pain that I gave up and sent them back to Amazon. For a long time I swore off EVGA and went with a flawless GTX 670 and 970 from MSI. I only went with EVGA this time because it was $60 cheaper than MSI. I am very thankful they decided to sent me a replacement free of charge with the 1070. But personally I will be avoiding EVGA again unless MSI still command such a high premium next time. Too many issues.

Also, EVGA no longer offers transferable warranty if I recall.

I've bought PSU's and 4 GTX 1070's and 3 1060 FTW's not to mention my current 1080 FTW and never had a single issue whatsoever. There was concern about thermals with the early 1070 releases but even with no thermal mod the cards OC well and won't get damaged by the temps, just wasn't optimal and yes, EVGA responded well to it. They have a webpage where folks can check serial # to see if the card left the factory with the thermal mod.

Not sure why you got so many defective items and I never received anything but perfect running hardware from EVGA ... go figure but ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte do not allow warranty transfer (at least accordin gto the warranty info that says "To the ORIGINAL purchaser only"

regarding silent running, I had an EVGA GTX 1070 Ti in January and it ran silent under full load (but the cooler is 2 1/2 slots). My current 1080 FTW runs silent but I don't OC (no need too really)

I've only had personal experiences with EVGA, which was always a good one. From what I've read about ASUS and MSI... MSI > ASUS

MSI for sure.

I don't think I have ever received a properly repaired item from ASUS on the first attempt. Even after sending step by step directions to replicate the issue. I ended up paying $100+ shipping having to send the item back so many times last time I had an issue with them. It's a shame because I like their hardware for the most part.

MSI is by far the better company.

Late last year, my R9 270x flat out died with no warning. I knew the card was way out of warranty, but I messaged their support asking if they'd fix the card if I paid them a fee for it.

To my surprise they generated an RMA and shipped me back a working replacement card no charge.

ASUS on the other hand has always been steaming hot piles of garbage going back to the 90s. I can't tell you how many of their motherboards I've had to repair or replace for failures or never working correctly to begin with.
