Are the Meltdown and Spectre exploits included?

To be fair AMD also includes Spectre in all CPUs sold in the last 2 decades or so..

However that did not stop me from buying a Ryzen 2700 system last month to replace my 10+ year old linux pvr / server.

These do stop me from purchasing a new 17+ inch display laptop to replace one that I destroyed a few months ago with a 20 ounce cup of coffee... I guess my streak of 25 years or so without this type of event happening had to end..

Had to use IE on that sweepstakes page, wasn't doing anything in Firefox when I hit Submit. Weird.

Picked one up a few hours ago from Microcenter. Typing this post on it right now. Chip is very much a binned chip. It actually does 5Ghz on all cores. Have mine running at 5.1Ghz without breaking a sweat.

I think all Microcenters got 40 units in per store. They are only selling 5,000 of this at retail. Very limited.

I'm guess there is a lot more headroom.

This could be a very special chip.

$464 something out the door with tax.

Am I the only one that thinks $75 for a measly 300Mhz over an 8700k ridiculous? 8086 is just a binned 8700K. What a joke for a "40th anniversary" CPU.

First of all, it's a world first ... 5ghz on all cores ... stable ... with overclocking headroom. This is a special chip for Intel. They are doing this for themselves. I'm at 5.1ghz under a new H115i Pro ... idle at 29 degrees, under load 86 / 87 degrees

Certainly too pricey for me to buy, but maybe I'll win one? Of course, that'll be pricey as well, since I'll have to buy a MB and RAM to go with it!

5.2Ghz but in the 90's. My cooling profile is set to performance in ilink.

But stable. Passed Intel torture test and a few games. I'm gonna convert a 1080p 60FPS movie file from my Google Pixel 2 XL to 4K 29.9fps and see if I blue screen

$75 for 5ghz without touching anything? Seems fine to me

What overclocking headroom? This chip just hit the market today so you don't have that information to make that statement. Don't be surprise if the 8086 can't hit much past 5Ghz.

What in the hell do you mean I don't have the information? I have the chip. I bought it this morning a little after 10am. I have my own information. I'm on it right now. Getting 5.2Ghz at 1.34.5 volts under load I'm at 92 - 93 one core is 95 / 96

I have a delid tool. I may. I even have liquid metal. I'm considering it.

Jeesh, am I the only one here who bought one?

You know ... you guys can flip your old 8700K for $299 on Craigslist / Facebook marketplace and jump on this CPU for $160+ out of pocket.

Also FYI, you can enter to win one for free for the next 7hrs:

https://game.intel.com/8086sweepstakes/

Even though I decided the next desktop build that I'm going to put together is an AMD Ryzen (probably next years new Zen architecture). I decided to enter, hell the wife has taken over the desktop anyway so it would be for her either way.

We game together though so it's totally worth it.

I wonder if Kyle has one on the bench right now.

I'm pretty sure the Fry's near Garland and Richardson has a few but I wouldn't expect for not much longer.

I have mine at 5.2ghz but it's not stable. I get blue screened about 4 or 5 minutes into on a recode. It's game stable however. Also, my cooling is not that great.

all cores overclocked. I get some pictures. I have an appointment in 35 mins tho. Gotta leave soon.

DOOO EEET word is its still using TIM so de lid + liquid metal should bring your temps down 10c or so

Needs a delid badly
Was wondering if this chip is a reason replace my 7700K @5.2
But nah

Have to replace the board, redo all the wiring
And my day to day things wouldn't even notice if it reaches 5.3Ghz with all 6 cores

Not replacing that 1060 with a 1080, so all the additional CPU power is wasted anyway.

Gonna wait on 7nm Vega to jump the gun
Thx GPP, you were good for something

That's just a good 8700K. Not worth the premium by a long shot.

Hmmm curious what the temps are since it does 5ghz on all cores. I assume they suck like the 8700k.

I've got a brand new 8700k @ 5Ghz (batch L804ED455) and the hottest temp I get on full load is around low 60's. I did not delid my CPU nor experienced any temp fluctuations. I can only speculate that Intel has changed their manufacturing process to address the issue with temps on this CPU.

Volts? What full load?

Prime95 it with AVX extensions and report back with voltage and temps.

If they had an 8core version I'd likely switch from my 7820x. Really thinking of going back to AMD for my next build. I will if they have the performance crown.
