Ryzen 2700 $255 - Ebay-Newegg

The 2700 at 4.2GHz is pulling a package power of ~175w.

The H100 is decent, according to the NewEgg reviews at least
I bought a Corsair Hydro H115i 280mm radiator during the Memorial Day sale. I was wanting it for the 2700X, but maybe now with semi-aggressive OC the 2700 is the better deal - with water cooling
/Are you pondering what I'm pondering Pinky?

Thank you kind sir! 2700X it likely is then. I don't know whether an original Corsair H100 is "high end cooling" or not (probably not), and at the very least I would need to buy an AM4 mount. That, and it is probably blasphemy, but stock speeds are good enough for me for now.

H100i is upper mid-range I'd say - it's a solid 240mm radiator and will cool this well though. Ryzen in general doesn't run that hot.

I'm thinking if my Mugen 5 could keep it under 95c at a 4.2Ghz 1.4mv OC stress testing, maybe... I would like a 2600X if I find a sale..

EXCELLENT! Nice write up and testing - straight to the point.

Went ahead and bought the eBay deal, it was too good to pass up. I like the stock 65w rating and that it tested in maintaining that. While I will be pushing 170w OC, later it will be used in another system in which the lower power will be perfect. Also I think the 2700 is a prime candidate for base clock OCing. Now if I get a dud either in OCing or memory controller - I will just stick it in the living room HTPC.

Memory OCing I can do later and post in the forums. Really, if one is at 3200mhz and Stilts timings - you really won't be gaining much beyond that other then some meaningless memory benchmarks that don't translate well into real world performance from applications.

Noko, let us know how the OC'ing works out.
I almost pulled the trigger on it too, but at the end I just couldn't click to buy it. I think, mostly, I was timid about pumping through that much voltage into it to OC it to X levels.
I could only find a couple of plain 2700 OC YouTubes (compared with dozens of 2700X ones) and it seems the chip does OC a bit... but perhaps fast/tight memory is actually much more important.
So... still waiting for a sale on the 2700X

Got mine today, board arriving Monday....will see how it goes.

Wow only 99 of these sold and this deal has been going on for over five days now. AMD has a real problem on their hands. They can't even sell their top chips at fire sale prices. These will get cheaper. I really thought these would be sold out and gone by now at this price. I can't wait to see how low these will go on Black Friday this year.

I had it in cart for 229.50 with 10% ebay bux this weekend; still couldn’t justify the price premium and hassle of selling the 1700x for the additional performance it gives

Definitely not worth the upgrade in that case. It might be that many who wanted an high core, threads setup for productivity or workstation usage already purchased a first generation Ryzen or a Coffee Lake/X299 setup... or people would splurge a bit for the pretty Wraith Prism cooler on the 2700X :p

Ahh, That is better than the MC deal I got for $415 with a Ryzen 2700 + ASUS X470 Prime Pro. However I am not at all disappointed. It's not like I can go to MC that often being that the closest MC to me is over 100 miles away.

Yeah I'm in a similar situation with my 1800x. I'm waiting for them to hit around $200, personally. And I think they will get there on Black Friday. I feel bad for AMD. Ryzen is a great product and they can't even sell them. Their margins are going to be brutal once the dust settles.

I think everyone wants the X models, because that's what was sent out for early reviews and got the publicity, the 2600X/2700X models. It's only now that the 'plain' 2xxx chips are getting reviews.
I bet the X models are selling well... which is why they aren't on sale (yet).

I bought it for 204 shipped with the 20% off ebay coupon today. Couldnt hold back any longer.

This deal must have died less than an hour ago then, I just tried to do the same but it's back up to $285. :(

Yeah I did. Maybe my browser is F'd up. I'll try it again later today.

Thats the same as this weekend with the 10% off. I passed at 228 and bit at 204 :)

The question for me is it is worth paying $53 more to get a 2700X over a 2700? I can skip the OCing headache, get the better cooler and it should be able to boost to 4.35GHZ with the X right?

I think the code may only work on the mobile app... That was the situation this weekend.

Grudgingly, that's what I decided too. That, and I wanted to buy the proc & mb at the local shop, in case I run into a RMA situation. So I bought good memory instead - the code worked fine on my pc.
