AMD sent over a list of in-stock Radeon video cards at Amazon, B&H, and Newegg, that stretch from Vega 64 all the way down to RX 570s. Many have rebates and free games included. Git while the gitten is good!

Wow 1.5 years after they went up for sale.

We did it!

Still no where close to msrp in Canada.

Some of those prices still seem a bit high to me, but at least they are headed in the right direction.

Well that's weird, on my phone I saw someone post about getting RX 480's in 2016 black friday for 125, now I don't. Anyway, I was going to say, I did too! They limited it to three unfortunately but I got my three. After the $50 gift card they were 49 bucks...I shoulda bought as many as I could =(

Cards coming back in stock - and staying in stock- are a good thing. With any luck they won't be gobbled up by miners, and we may actually see some price drops. Any new card coming out now is pretty much guaranteed to be in short supply and extremely high demand, and WILL command an extreme level of gouging from retailers as the miners swoop in.

Already got a 1070 to hold me over until the gaming version of the new Titan is released. Would have bought a Vega 64 if it was available three weeks ago.
AMD needs something serious next round or the massacre will continue. And it needs to be in stock.

I'm just glad they're coming back into stock. They're still a little higher than MSRP but have dropped a ton. Hopefully they drop down a little more. Get them down closer to the mid $500's and they're a real alternative to a 1080.

I think (if they cared to do so, and probably would not because means less overall sales for them) they could put some kind of "hardware code" on the GPU that is "used for games" would operate at best voltages/clocks etc etc maybe some type of "softlock" for non mining versions to be really not great at doing the mining bit versus just getting the
"mining grade" GPU right off the bat.

Likely my concept would be screwed up somehow instead of fixing problems may cause more headaches for nothing.
--------------------------------------

Was just thinking (at least back a few years ago) the "pro" cards such as FirePro had "dedicated" driver branch for them and the "desktop grade" has Catalyst specific for their use as well, maybe they should do similar for "miner" cards, do not limit the selling of them, but you shoot yourself in foot trying to put the "gaming" drivers on the "miner" card and vice versa.

make them more "specialized" so they can gain the best benefits of either side of the equation, am sure there is some optimization that can be done via drivers alone that allow the "gaming card" to be even better at gaming, the miner to be better at mining (driver tuning) then the individual can after the fact (to a point) screw with various clock speeds or voltages as they see fit (no different than it currently is)

am sure it can be done, likely they will not, I would not put it past AMD or Ngreedia or any of the AIB to "accept" and extra bit of profit from "greed" pricing and come up with various excuses that they do not...."it is business" as the saying goes.

hell memory makers, flash memory makers, GPU-CPU all have had incredibly profitable last 3 years or so.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Anyways, I really want a RX 470/570 Gaming X at close to or below MSRP (basically update for similar price I had paid for my 7870 years ago at on average +/- same wattage) I do not see us here in the great white north (Canada) seeing price changes happen anytime soon, we usually get burned in this regard, price stays up longer than it should and eventual price drops do not seem to last or are soon replaced by something more pricey instead LOL.

Had eye on MSI for next Radeon because my current 7870 MSI TFIII I have had nothing but <3 for since the day I got the 2nd of it (sent back first one because of voltage spikes that caused stability issues, sold that one, kept the 2nd one I bought which has been more overclockable and declockable at much better temps and volts....that is RNG for you :p)

--------------------------

they said the same thing back in Feb-March-April "more stock incoming expect to be able to find GPU available at hopefully close to or below MSRP for RX 5xx, Vega and Pascal" did not happen as far as I can tell HERE and only recently "to a point" in the US of A...maybe Pascal various ones (though I am Radeon through and through)

thanks for the news though Kyle o7 (have to lol at some of the comment in this thread)

Bet Best Buy still has empty shelves with the AMD cards hidden behind the Green ones in the case.

I disagree. The recent perfect storm of Spectres has created an opening at the server space for AMD, which is a big deal for the next few years, while Ryzen is very competitive at the consumer space. They need to focus on production to meet those incoming demands before Intel resolves their production messes.

As to GPU, the departure of Raja is a great thing to AMD IMO as AMD will not surpasses Nvidia by making their GPU do what Nvidia's GPU does. Yes, AI and GPU compute are great, but it takes a lot of resources and time just to get to where Nvidia is. Instead, with the fact that they have CPUs, they can simply make Graphic Processing Units instead of another massive Parallel Shader Units with very little software support for parallel computing.

Hmmmmm.

I’m just recently laid off so I definitely can’t justify any of this but it’s damn tempting seeing Vega in stock and 2700x on sale...

This is precisely when to buy. You'll have time to game until you get work.
Wellllll. My SNES Mini actually just arrived Monday so. That’s kinda my gaming time. Just wish the controller cords were longer, I didn’t want the nostalgia of me sitting on the floor staring up at the screen.

Just add a bowl of sugar frosted pops and it will all be alright ;)
A longer hdmi cable?

Mount it on the ceiling so you can play laying down?

Cinnamon Life ;) and nah I just moved the lazy boy closer.

Hmmm 100ish year old house. Slapshod mounting skills. 65”LED or 50” Plasma...or 27” Qnix monitor.

I don’t think I want to take my chances laying beneath a 50” Plasma.

That's because people were jacking them.

They were not jacking the green ones?

I get locking up expensive and highly desired items - I dont get putting all the Green items in front (glass locked case) completely hiding the red ones.

I was recently in a BB asking about Red items. I was strongly told several times -what we have is out- and such things which may well have been literally true - only after insisting and being a 'customer' did anyone admit to having some AMD cards in stock and show them to me. Had I been less demanding and willing to accept the first 3 answers I would never have know team red was in stock over the $100 range.

What do you guys think about selling my Reference Vega 56 that is flashed with a Vega 64 bios and then buying the Powercolor Vega 56 Red Devil? I am not bothered by the noise, I just want to know if I will see equivalent performance and because I like the appearance of the Red Devil card.

How well does vega overclock? I have a RX 580 Red Devil and if doesn't OC worth a damn.

If people are jacking the green ones then they hide the red ones. I don't get you not getting the logic. AMD cards were in extreme demand for mining for a while there.

You're lucky if a Best Buy employee knows what a video card is beyond what aisle they're on. If you want to know what they have in stock, you check the website first.

Of course, the only reason that buying a video card at Best Buy isn't an absurd proposition in the first place is because they've been running higher than MSRP online, and retail outlets usually track closer to MSRP- making them potentially cheaper when online outlets respond to supply and demand pressure. Rare occurrence!
